Selected folder/file backups

Like Toohip in https://community.norton.com/en/forums/selected-folderfile-backups, I have the same problem. I didn't understand how to select folders and files to back up the first time, and ended using almost all of my space. I since figured out how to properly select files and folders to back up, but I have no space left available, and when I try to delete the first back up set, and start over again with a new backup set, I'm told that I can't delete the first set. See the attached png file. How do I fix this?

Re: Selected folder/file backups

Can you create a new backup set?

You cannot delete a backup set if only one backup set is available.
However, you can create a new backup set before you delete the old backup set.

Manage backup files on Norton Backup Drive -

Norton 360 plans come with a fixed amount of shared storage space.
Upgrade to a higher plan to get more storage space.
Remove previously backed-up files to free up storage space.

Re: Selected folder/file backups

I tried creating a new backup set, small enough that it only had one file in it, thinking I could upload that and then delete the other one. When I did, I got a message saying I didn't have enough space available to upload it. I could try again with a smaller file and see what happens. I will take a look at the links provided and see if any of it helps.

I've been using CDRS, DVDs, USB sticks, as well as another computer that's offline to store files, and if I can't get this fixed, I could always continue doing that. Whenever I open Norton now, I get a message saying "Attention you have low storage for online backup," I would like to at least get rid of that. See the attache png

Re: Selected folder/file backups

You can configure the existing backup to be smaller, by deselecting files, or you can delete the whole set on my.norton.com, then make the existing backup very small. Then make a new backup set with the files that you want to back up.

If you can't reach the Classic view to modify your backup, press the arrow next to device security and select performance. Don't press fix now because that will take you to a viscous loop...

Wonders what happens when @gamott2015 tries to delete/trashcan the default (only) backup set from:

Q: How many GB of GB used does My Norton report is available?
for example:

Maybe, try restoring/downloading some files to a convenient location - temporarily - to create available space.
https://my.norton.com/extspa/backup/home
Then try to create a new backup set - so, if needed you can delete your original default backup set.

Please post progress.

Re: Selected folder/file backups

I created a new backup set with only one small file and was able to delete the larger file, so the problem has been solved. Thanks for your help.

Yes. You can remove the whole backup set and the next time you run backup in 360 it will recreate the new backup set there.

Hmm, then why does Norton documentation say:

You cannot delete a backup set if only one backup set is available.

Re: Selected folder/file backups

You cannot delete the only backup from the Norton on your PC, but you can delete it from my.norton.com without getting that message. The problem starts then because on your Norton (on the PC) the settings are still the same as was before, so if you press fix now it will start backing up the same things as the backup set you just deleted. So you need to not press fix now and go to Performance > backup sets > deselect files and then you can run a backup. it's a very strange and not to the point way of doing things....
