Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

I have my Full Scan set to do a full scan every Saturday at 7 AM. It didn't do it today so I manually did it. This happened once before . Is there any reason this could happen? Also my last auto quick scan was Feb 9. It usually does 1 or 2 automatically every day. Last time it failed to do a full scan automatically I went and undid the setting and put the same setting in again and it worked the next Saturday.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hello Holly

Did you just install version 22.9.0 68? I have heard some users say it has happened to them. Mine is scheduled for Monday morning at 2 AM, so I am waiting to see if mine runs or not.

Thanks.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hi Holly,

Which option of the five do you have do you have selected?  I'm referring to Settings under Full Scan Configure

Is Only at Idle Time also check marked?

I have updated to 22.9.0.68 and I had a scan run as scheduled on Wed night.  Also my Quick Scans are running as advertised.

Please advise of Operating System to include 32 or 64 bit,  Default browser and Norton Product and version.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

No, didn't sign up for it but got it by way of Live Update on Feb.8 and that's when auto quick scans stopped,so probably related to that.

Just got another product Live Update at 5:45 Pm EST today so maybe it's a fix.

64 bit, Norton 22.9.0.68. See other comment to another responder. Using Google Chrome as default browser and only at idle time not checked.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hello Holly

There are a lot of updates needed for version 22.9.0.68. You have to manually run Live Update and restart and run it again. When I got my update on Tues. night, I had a few updates which required a restart. I then ran Live Update again and got some more updates and another restart requested. Altogether I got over a dozen updates and 2 restarts. I always leave Automatic Updates turned on, but I also run Live Update at least once a day. You could also check over the settings and make sure they are the way you want them..

Thanks.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

I have a similiar situation. After the latest product update to 22.9.0.68 no automatic scans live updates etc run. I have to run them manually.

Any suggestions how to get them to run automatically. Checked the settings were correct they have NOT changed.

Wait and see if it is corrected. I got another product update  late yesterday so I'll see if that corrects it.

I had the same thing with Live Update not running and scans not starting since the first EAP version and now these bugs have been released to the masses.

I have reported this thread to the Admin'.  Let's see if they can look into it for us.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Turning off Silent Mode in Settings--Administrative Settings resulted in a fix for getting automatic Live Updates. Now I'm waiting to see if I get automatic Quick Scan and scheduled Full Scan---which I suspect will happen. The Norton Administrator sent me a private message to try this and it worked for automatic Live Updates .

I never had turned the Silent Mode on or knew what it mean't until I investigated after the private message. Somewhere I read that Silent Mode can be turned on if you have been playing a game and I guess other things could cause it to change from OFF to ON.

I just got automatic Quick Scan so turning off Silent Mode fixed the problem. Thanks to the administrator!!!

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

FWIW, my Comcast Norton Security Suite (a clone of N360) on WIN 7 was exhibiting the situation of no auto LU, running of auto background checks, nor Quick Scans.  I checked my Silent Mode and it was OFF as it always is.  I turned it on for about 5 minutes - no effect, and then turned it back off and within 10 minutes I had all my background tasks (including the grayed out maintenance ones, auto LU and am waiting on an auto Quick Scan to run.

My NS Premium (NSBU) on WIN 10 has been running the Auto LU and Quick Scans and Silent Mode has remained OFF after the update and I have not switched it on/off.  So it wasn't needed on this system.

<EDIT> Auto Quick Scan did in fact run when I left the NSS system go into Idle about 15 minutes after the auto LU and also I checked the Graph and it showed the Quick San done one time today.  It appears toggling Silent Mode OFF and then back ON did the trick.  Don't forget to Apply after changing it both times.

Thanks for the info. I am still wondering what turned on the Silent Mode on my computer as I never changed the setting to ON.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hello Holly

Is your computer a 64 bit computer? Do you do any online gaming or watch a movie on your computer. It gets turned on to do such actions. Perhaps it didn't go back off like it should have..

Thanks.

floplot - there should also be a change to the "normal" Norton Icon if it were still in Silent Mode as shown below

To:flopot    I posted earlier the comment below about gaming.  However, I  stopped gaming a few weeks ago and didn't have the problem so I don't know why it suddenly started, but I will go back to this remedy if it happens again. Anyway, thanks for your comments.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hello g_arm

There is an Announcement on top of the Forum about this new Update. If you are 64 bit, then you got just about the whole program in 64 bit. That would include NPE.If it actually updated, sorry I wouldn't know.

When I played, Quiet Mode came on and went off when I finished. That was many months ago.

Thanks.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

Hello Holly

Is your time, date, location correct? If a laptop, was it plugged in? If I remember correctly, there was an issue with Live Updates and SDS Definitions not downloading. Perhaps that messed up your timing. I would say, wait until this Sunday and see if it runs ok. Check and see if the settings are still ok.

Thanks.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

As long as I have auto quick scan and live updates I wouldn't uninstall and reinstall as I can always do a manual full scan---I only do that once a week unless I would suspect a virus, etc.

Re: Set Full Scan Didn't Work Today

And the only reason you might need to do more frequent full system scans is if you are always downloading things, or using torrents.

Normally once a month is sufficient as the real time protection is going to protect you as any file is accessed.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
