Shows IP Address has Disappeared over and over

Running Norton Security 22.18.0.222 on Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64

Over last night there there were quite a few Live Updates, all successful, and no reboot required. Now my history keeps showing "IP Address has disappeared" at least 2 times in a row with same date and time, followed by "Protecting your computer ....." which shows up at least 2-3 times in a row with the same date and time.

Must have 25 of these multiple entries in the last 10 hours.

Other automatic tasks are showing up in between all these entries.

NS self tests shows all OK and have all green checks, my internet connection is steady with no outages or fluctuation. Have rebooted but still happening.

What's going on?

When Norton updates itself, it often resets your network connection. Every time your connection is reset, such as when you shutdown or the Norton updates, Norton will record that the IP address has disappeared. Then as the connection is re established, you see the Protecting your computer message. This is normal and there is nothing amiss.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hello. When did version 22.18.0.222 release? I just ran LiveUpdate and I'm still on version 22.18.0.213 Stable release.

[Updated on 20th August] Norton Security 22.18.0.222 has been released targeting Windows 7 SP1 customers with Norton 22.18.0.213 installed. This build fixes the Norton installation issue on Windows 7 machines. Once this patch is applied, Windows 7 customers can apply the latest Windows Update patch.

Note: This is a throttled release. The version change is for Windows 7 users ONLY

Re: Shows IP Address has Disappeared over and over

Peterweb,

This is nothing like a re establishment of the network connection.

While NS seems to functioning properly as well as my internet connection, if I look at History>Recent History, all I see is entries for "IP Address has Disappeared....", "then Protecting your computer....".  Each on of these entries is repeated 2 to 3 times in a row, one after the other but each one has the same time.  Then a few minutes later it begins again, over and over.

I have rebooted twice with no corrective effect.

You have to look at History > Recent History to see this activity.  It is 3 pages now just for today.

I have no problem with internet connectivity or emails.

Try power cycling your modem and router and computer. See if that makes any difference.

Re: Shows IP Address has Disappeared over and over

Already rebooted computer twice, AT&T modem/router unplugged and rebooted with no change.

This just started this morning. I leave computer on and during the night/morning. This morning the Norton Security home screen was open on my desktop. Looking at History noted quite a few updates took place in the early morning.

My system had previously successfully updated to the newest version of NS with no problem noted so this change seems to have happened early morning today.

It is still performing the activity originally described.  Even when history shows the IP Address has disappeared, NS program shows all green protected status.

Re: Shows IP Address has Disappeared over and over

Looking at History noted quite a few updates took place in the early morning.

And as I noted above, these updates usually reset your network connection if there is anything to do with the firewall settings, or network monitoring. That will create the entries you are seeing.

Keep an eye on things to see if they keep showing the same information after a day or so.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Peterweb

New day, still happening.  Cant figured out how to include a picture of my History as snips are jpg or png.

The entries as previously explained happen over and over as long as computer is up and connected.

I've used Norton in various forms for over 10 years, never seen this before.
