Site Blocked

Hi, I have a question that I hope you may be able to answer. I visit a site regular called Shipspotting.com, but unfortunately these past few day's Norton has quite rightly been blocking my attempts to visit this site, as it would appear that an issue has been detected.

My question is, when this issues on the site has been resolved, will Norton automatically lift the block to allow visits to the site. As it stands I will not know when the issue has been resolved due to the block. Thanks for your help.

Re: Site Blocked

Hello CR42,

I was thinking that it might be a false alarm as was the case with Siliconera some time back, please see: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-preventing-siliconera-page-loading  However, in your case, according to Safe Web: https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=Shipspotting.com a very serious charge of Trojan.gen.2 has been levied, so, i'm thinking that this is different.

As you state, once they clean up the site, i believe they can request a re-test.  If it is determined that they have addressed the issue, Norton will lift the block.  You can periodically check with Safe Web to see if they are coming back clean.  Even more specifically, here is a direct quote from Safe Web on how the process works,

"To submit your site for rating, re-evaluation, or to appeal the rating of your site, you need to create a Norton Safe Web account and verify the ownership of your site. Follow these steps:

  1. Signup for an account with Norton Safe Web if you haven't already done so.
  2. On the "site dispute" tab of your profile page, click the "Add site" link and enter your Web site address. (Check out the Web site registration tips for more information.)
  3. You will receive an email on successful registration of your Web site. Please follow the instructions in the email carefully. Alternatively the site verification instructions will also be displayed on the "site dispute" page.
  4. Once you have completed the site verification steps, click "Verify Now" (next to your Web site name) to establish ownership. You need to have your site ownership verified in order to submit your site to be rated. Please visit the Web site ownership verification tips for more information about this process.

Regards,

H.B.

Re: Site Blocked

Many Thanks H.B. I guess it's now down to the powers that be at Shipspotting to move things forwards. Will just have to take a side line for the time being, Cheers.
