For weeks now I have tried every solution available in forums and online, technical support, chats, phone calls, elite teams, etc. Does anyone know how to stop the smart firewall from disabling?

- Norton Security installed version number?
- Operating System?
- Are you getting any error message (Can you please post an screenshot of Firewall disabled)?
- Have you already tried Reinstalling Norton Security with fresh download from Norton Management Portal?

Yes, I have redownloaded, tech teams have redownloaded by remote connections, etc. I have tried every option shown on forums, google, norton, etc. nothing. Made aggressive reboot options, changed options in OS, did msconfig crap, scannow, etc...problem not solved
Hello Jamell. What OS options did you reconfigure? What is the actual version and build of your Windows 10 install?
Boot Options everywhere....everywhere. I updated to where there are no updates available, the computer is less than a month old, Dell, new model, etc. not important actually because in every forum there are these questions that have not solved the issue, I am looking for a resolution to this issue on Norton's end, not mines, no offense.
After repeated attempts, Norton once again gained remote access, used Norton removal and reinstall tool and again, after 4 hours, smart firewall disabled after all the tweaks to boot options on OS and Norton were done....
Jamell, if the install corrupts on every removal and reinstall the common denominator is the machine its being installed on. Did your computer come with ANY trials of any other antivirus software. Did you uninstall that software (if there were any) before installing Norton? And, have you installed any other utilities in attempts to remediate the issues you are having?
Have you considered performing a final R&R of Norton, then backing up your files, photos, etc and performing a system "refresh"? Run Windows updates until there are no more available and give the system a final reboot. Then, log back in your Norton account portal, reinstall your product again directly from there.
We ask a few simple questions simply because, there are pro's here with experience the support personnel may or may not have. Inside, hands on experience with the products. Knowing the exact version and build of your Windows install matters in that Microsoft has screwed up the last two major updates to Windows 10. Leaving consumers with issues like yours and a multitude of others including file deletions, systems not bootable, incompatible hardware directly from the manufacturer. Having information from you arms us in assisting where others may have failed.
i'm having same issue for a week or so now - besides windows updates, i installed CISCO ANYCONNECT (but it is not running) - otherwise, no known changes (have there been Norton updates?) Windows 10.
Are you both logging into your system with admin accounts? @ecarlino Your Cisco AnyConnect product is a retired product and may NOT be compatible with Norton running on the system since Norton is now RS5 compliant. Try removing your client, rebooting and recheck your results.

Sorry I did not reply sooner, a tech remote accessed once again, probably 5th time and went into my system and put my Windows Defender on automatic I believe and it has resolved the issue going on Day 3 now and that is the biggest improvement to date.
SoulAsylum, I have seen you in countless forums on similar topics close to this one and yes, you are correct, there are many experts here, that is why I asked when there are other forums with the same question and issue. The second I get a new system I completely uninstall the McAfee or whatever it comes with and install the Norton as I have done for the 7 years I have been a subscriber to them. It is the first and foremost thing on my list, hands down. I count on it to be compatible with whatever I get as I never get anything more than a year old, I never trust any other utility or app to assist Norton as I trust it enough to do it's job and have never, ever had an issue with it until now on any computer, laptop or mobile device. Also, I can do wonders with computers on many levels, I have never figured out how not to be on an admin account, lol.
The one thing I noticed was my inability to access my Windows Defender but paid it no mind, though it was said to be a solution to the issue a few times and thought it was irrelevant as all other options did not seem to be working and all the other techs and attempts were having no success and did not mention it. But the latest tech, it was the first thing he did, no hesitation, went right into it and activated it with a cmd and it seems to have resolved the issue. if it pans out and it goes on for a prolonged period with no interruptions I will update and let it be known it may be a permanent solution with actual specs and such for anyone else having the issue.
ecarlino, see if you can access your Windows Defender and set it to run on automatic, if not, that may be the issue, if not, contact Norton, they can remote access and do it for you, there may be simpler ways, I know there is as a matter of fact but it's 3 in the morning and I don't have the lucidity to type all the directions right now.
Jamell, I totally understand. My theorem is the only dumb question is the one not asked. Just trying to help without being able to see what the person with the issue sees presents its own set of problems. Glad you have found the solution is as we often say, a simple one. Thanks for sharing it with the community.
i wish i had skipped one step for the sake of the scientific experiment principle of isolating the effects of each change (i've been suspicious of the Cisco product causing a conflict) -
but here is what i did:
i had CISCO ANYconnect installed on this PC, it was not active but it's service was on. i turned it completely off.
while in services, i noticed windows defender firewall was setup to 'manual' and it was off.
i turned it to auto and turned it on (started it)
i then went into norton and was able to turn on the firewall FINALLY - but it required a reboot.
see attached confirming it's working!
btw, after reboot, the Cisco AnyConnect service is running as well - so that may not have been the conflict, although it's install may have changed some firewall settings? b/c i can't recall when my firewall issue started but it was approximately around the time i installed that, although it could have been coincidence b/c there have been some windows updates in the same period (about the last 3-6 wks)
Good news ecarlino. As in my previous post I suspected your Cisco product may have been a source of conflict. Glad you got things working and thanks for the feedback.
