smart pc fix notice

I've been helping an elderly individual learn to use windows 8. Apparently he downloaded a utility program that also installed "smart pc fix" Well I un installed the utility and he still gets a pop up on his pc. It says:"smart pc fix notice," with two buttons, "ignore and fix." I looked all through control panels, "uninstall," list and the Start tab in task manager to see where it is.

I can't seem to find it and am wondering if anyone else has come across this item and knows how to get it off his system. TIA!

Re: smart pc fix notice

I would suggest a full system scan using the FREE version of Malwarebytes. You can find it here http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

I Googled  Smart PC Fix and it looks like a fake scanner and malware remover. If Malwarebytes does not remove it, try one of the free malware removal sites below.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
