Software updater

In opening My Norton, the Software Updater indicates that I have "1 program requiring attention"; namely, OneDrive.  The next page it indicates that there is an "update available".  After running the update, there is an exclamation mark saying that I "need to close program".  What is going on?  This is triggering the "1 program requires attention" to constantly visible in red beneath my Software Updater heading.  How do I clear this up?

Re: Software updater

OneDrive updates  automatically direct from MS, last month had 6 updates, this month 2 to date. Norton software updater is known for getting it wrong, my advice is to turn it off. My first experience & only experience was when it automatically ran on opening when it 'updated' a driver with an older version, luckily it was redundant any way. Turned it off then & let the people who know when to update like MS, apps themselves etc.

Re: Software updater

OneDrive will update itself so you can exclude that program from the Norton software updater.

Re: Software updater

I excluded it and the notice disappeared.  Fantastic.  Thank you

Re: Software updater

Yes, I noticed this same thing -- difficulty with updating Microsoft Onedrive.

This can also happen with Microsoft Teams, and some versions of Zoom.

Once, and only once, I got it to work by the following method --

-Right click and open Onedrive

-Click the gear symbol >> Settings

-Click "Pause syncing"

-Scroll down, click "Quit Onedrive"

That allowed the update to occur.

But it doesn't work every time.

PatchMyPC has a box one can check to close/turn off the software prior to updating.  Could that help the Norton Software Updater?

====

Overall, I pleased with Software Updater.

It was super glitch and error prone early.

But it has smoothed out nicely.

And it now updates more software than "PatchMyPC."

On that add-on >>>> Good Job Norton

Re: Software updater

Hi,

Thank you for posting about this issue.

Software Updater shows "Need to close the program", when it is not able to shut down the program, and customers will have to explicitly do this.

In this case, you will have to close OneDrive (Click on OneDrive icon from the taskbar -> Go to Help & Settings -> Close OneDrive). Then an update will be triggered through Software Updater, and it can be applied. Thank you.
