Stop Annoying Norton popups

What setting do I have to change to get rid of these pop ups from Norton? I've already tried "Don't show again" and it doesn't work.

Re: Stop Annoying Norton popups

Hi, SGFC. Try going into Settings>Administrative Settings and turn off all the notifications you don't want/need.

Re: Stop Annoying Norton popups

I don't think that's it.

It only shows "Special offer" which I don't think this is and "Norton Task Notification". I don't think this is a task notification and I don't think it's a special offer either. If it's considered a task (which it's not) Norton needs to add a separate setting for it. Because I'd still like to see Performance tasks complete or whatever.

Re: Stop Annoying Norton popups

It is a special offer, which includes what Norton describes as "useful information from Symantec."

Re: Stop Annoying Norton popups

@SGFC:

If your annoyance continues, try locating the background process/service by running Task Manager, rename or delete (back up that application first) that exe in Windows Safe Mode (untested method).

As for Special Offer Notification, plz review this KB:

The Special Offer Notification option lets you receive special offers on the latest Norton products, add-ons (E.G., this one), and other useful information from Symantec. When this option is turned on, your Norton product notifies you about the Norton special offers and other updates from Symantec.

Then, following F 4 E's comment should fix your issue above.

For more info, you may Chat with Norton Support.

Hi, SGFC. As 20750065 says, regarded as a *notification* by Norton !

Re: Stop Annoying Norton popups

Hello

I received the same notice. I clicked on Do Not Show Again and I haven't seen it again, at least not yet. I'm still on Win 7 and IE 11. There are smaller ads for that new Identity Protection on the sides of some of the pages of the Forum.  I think that by telling that popup not to show again might be causing some threads to close right up as I am clicking on a thread. I don't want to go off topic. Perhaps I would be better off seeing that ad and not have some threads close up immediately. I will turn off that feature and see if it will help my issue which may be related to that popup.

Thanks.

@SendOfJive

I like the quotes around useful information. I don't find it highly useful. I was already aware about the Yahoo! breach because of Yahoo! warning about it during login.
Also I didn't really need to know that Symantec bought LifeLock.

@20750065

I'm quite aware where the settings are located. But thanks for the KB.

@F4E

It should be called an "annoyification". Years ago Symantec made a product that blocked web ads on pages. Now they're putting out ads, err useful information.

@floplot

I clicked "Don't Show Again" on two of those pop-ups so far. One for LifeLock being purchased by Symantec and the other is posted above.

@all

I'll try F4E and SendOfJive's suggestion. I just wanted to be sure Norton considered this a special offer. Instead of disabling all notifications.

Hi, SGFC. A feeble attempt at marketing, is more like it !

I can do my own research, which is why I disabled notifications !
