Stuck at "Communicating with the Norton server"

I just installed Norton Security. After installing the product, I ran Live Update. Now, it is stuck at "Communicating with the Norton server" and cannot activate the product. I uninstalled the product a few times and re-installed it, same issue. Any advice to fix this issue?

Please try Uninstalling program Nahimic for MSI if listed in programs. Please see Symantec Employee "VineethPS" post for more details here and let us know the status. Thanks

Hello S Malik

What was your previous Security Program? How was it removed? Did you use the Removal Tool from the previous vendor and restart after using Removal Tool. ? Do you have any other real time security program installed? Please try installing with a Windows Administrator Account.

I used to have Norton Security on my system before and I remember I had the same issue while activating the product. I now have a clean install of Windows 10, 64-bit. I installed Norton Security and tried to activate, same issue again.

You could try having a chat  with the Official Norton Customer Support and see if they can get your Norton Security activated.

Have you used up all the seats for your subscription?  If so, you can go into your Norton Account and delete the key for your computer and that will free up a seat for your computer. Don't know if that is your issue or not?

I don't like Norton support. Anytime you contact them, they ask you to give remote access. They don't do anything. I am in computers myself and I do not feel comfortable giving remote access. Norton should bring their support centers back to the U.S. Indian support agents are very unprofessional. I will hopefully find a solution for this myself and share it. By the way, I have already removed this device from my Norton account.

Did you check for the Nahimic software Sunil_GA asked about?  If you do not have an MSI motherboard, check the audio software for your motherboard. I remember another manufacturer's sound software had a similar issue.

Once Norton is activated, you can reinstall the sound software if you need it.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I don't have Nahimic software installed on my system. I have Realtek High Definition Audio Driver installed. I'll uninstall this and try to activate Norton Security.

Have you tried the Remove and Reinstall Tool? Perhaps that will help.

I have finally resolved the issue!

I have the latest builds of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox installed on my system. Google Chrome is set up to all of it's defaults. I removed Mozilla Firefox completely, including Mozilla Maintenance Service and all of the directories from the user account. I then restarted my computer and when I ran Norton, I was able to activate the product right away.
