Supicious email?

I’ve received two of these ‘suspicious’ emails purporting to come from Norton, offering to give me an extra year on renewing for 2 years, the email starts with Dear Norton customer rather than my name, links all point to www.mylivechat.com/chatnoscript.aspx?HCCID=36792051
Sent address is: promo@sales-norton.com
The email address it was sent to isn’t the one for my Norton account.

Is this genuine? If it is then the email should not look like a phishing attempt.

Re: Supicious email?

Hi ,

Here is the link to show how to renew your product  https://us.norton.com/renewal

Try that and see if you can use your code in there.  You dont have to buy just test.  If the code says its invalid, then its a fake.

I do admit I have been to the site that you posted above, and I have been to genuine sites of Norton and one of the things that I have found is that all the Norton logos are clickable and goes to the main page of the site, this site however the logo in not clickable.

Re: Supicious email?

The link informs me to use the Norton application which I don’t have installed as I’m trialling Windows Defender.

I noticed the Norton icon was not clickable within the email.

Re: Supicious email?

Hi Twilight Princess, I have seen this scam reported before.

The email you received is not legitimate. Please do not click on the links within. Report the message as spam.

Hey Torrey Umland ,

How would they report it?  Some people don't know how to do these things if you guys want it reported besides from here.

Re: Supicious email?

Hello

Some email programs have features where you can report emails as spam. Outlook has a feature like that. The AntiSpan part of Norton Security might do it also. Spam Detectors have that feature also.

Yes I’d like to know where I can forward the scam message to Norton.
