Re: Suspicious Norton 2015 Christmas Renewal Offer email

Hello GWTora

Thank you for posting your email that you received. This is the time of year when some customers may receive emails like this one. You did the correct thing in calling support to check if the email was legitimate. As bjm_ has pointed out, we could have helped you also by pointing you to our KB article. By starting this thread, hopefully, it will help to make other customers aware that such scams and phishing emails do exist and that it is a good idea to check them out. Thanks again

Thanks.

I have previously received this email and was told by Symantec that this is a scam.

Re: Suspicious Norton 2015 Christmas Renewal Offer email

I've received the offer 3 times and each time it connected to a chat page. I finally decided to try it and was offered 2 years of Norton 360 for $189. I have since verified with Norton that the email address from which the email was sent is not a valid Norton one. While I submitted a few replies on the chat page, I didn't give them any information they don't already have, so I'm not worried about it. I'd say they're most likely trying to scam credit card information, but they botched it by asking way too much for their "discount" offer. I wonder if they've actually gotten anything…
