Is there any info on NIS 2014 EOL?

It will soon be time for me to resubscribe for 2 computers to my NIS 2014 subscription.

Before I do, I'd like to know what it's EOL date is, so I can decide whether to do so or investigate other options.

Many thanks.

Hello SantaFeBill. NIS is no longer offered for sale on the Norton products site, therefore when your current subscription expires you will need to contact support for renewal. However, there are updated products now, here are the most current products available. That being said you MAY be able to find Norton Security Deluxe at a local vendor cheaper than on the Norton site itself. I recommend the 5 device version as it will also allow you to install on your mobile devices without a separate subscription. I have 10 device version and got it at a great local vendor price.

Cheers

Hi SantaFeBill:

Do your computers have Win 7 SP1 or higher and could you just clarify what you mean when you say you have a NIS 2014 subscription?  Do you still have an older NIS v21.7.x product (released March 2015) running on your machines or have they both been upgraded to the latest NIS v22.6.x? For Norton v22.x go to Help | General Information | About to find your version number; for Norton v21.x and older products go to Support | About.

To add to SoulAsylum's and lmacri's information. If you have been updating your NIS and are at the 26.x.x.x. version, it is identical to the newer Norton Security products, except for the name displayed in the product. So you might as well cancel any auto renewal you may have for NIS and just go ahead and upgrade to the newer product line.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hi SantaFeBill:

Just to clarify, NIS v22.6.x and the newer Norton Security Deluxe v22.6.x (with Norton Smart Firewall but no backup feature) have the same basic features, user interface and scan engine since the Single Layout feature was introduced in v22.12.x, but the terms of the license are still different.  If you auto-renew NIS I believe you are still restricted to installation on a Windows PC (typically 1-Year / 3 PCs).  All licenses for the newer Norton Security products are multi-device (e.g., 5 devices / any Windows PC , Mac, Android or iOS device).  See Earthnet's thread What are the true differences between NIS and NS? for a discussion on this topic.
