'There is a backup problem. Make sure the destination drive or device is connected then try again' when trying to backup to Secure Online Storage

Problem:  Error when trying to backup to Norton Secure Online Storage.  The error is 'There is a backup problem. Make sure the destination drive or device is connected then try again'.  This error message shows up almost immediately after starting the backup process. The size of the backup is about 775MB (I have plenty of online storage space) and I am able to successfully backup other even larger Backup Sets to Online Storage before and after trying to backup this one particular Backup Set.  I have deleted the Backup Set in question from Online Storage and deleted and recreated the Backup Set in N360 but still get the error.

Obviously the 'destination drive' (Norton Secure Online Storage) is connected since I can backup other Backup Sets without issue and since I have plenty of storage space left that can't be the issue either.

Any ideas?

Hi Bob Ackermann.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

My main purpose in posting is to let you know that at least someone has read and given some thought to your problem.  As I cannot immediately think what the problem is likely to be or how to resolve it.  You seem to have checked the obvious.

If it were me I would set up a new small backup set from the same devise to the same backup location including just one or two files and then try running that.  That should confirm if it is something to do with the specific backup or the device that is being used.

Other than that you could try the free 24 hrs Norton Chat link which should put you directly in touch with Norton staff who may be able to help where we cannot.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on, as it may help us help others in future.

Mike
