Is there a way to prevent new users from connecting to Norton Core?

Hi,

Is there a way to do an explicit deny (wired and wifi) to prevent for all new users/devices from joining Norton Core?  Ideally, I would like to have the capability to only allow devices/users access by manual intervention. The current way only allows me to block devices once they are joined - I don't want them to connect at all.  Thanks in advance and lf this doesn't exist today, I would like to have this added as a feature request.

Cheers,

JiHe

Under settings->wireless settings-> there is an option Allow or block devices attempting to join the network (wired or wireless).

Manny,  thanks but that setting still allows users to connect and use the internet.  It does offer the ability to block the user but only after they connect and you see it in the app under alerts, notifications.  I don't want to block after they connect but block before they connect.  The idea is to NOT let them connect at all until you allow them to.

I'm not sure about the internet part.  It does allow them to connect but I don't think they get access to the internet.  I had several family members join my network yesterday and they didn't have internet access until I allowed them.  I would need to test further to make sure.

Please let me know the results of your testing as mine allows users internet access.

Any results? I have not installed yet but don't need a neighbor downloading bad stuff via my internet ip

As always, the first line of defense is a strong password on your Wifi networks. Then, the only way your neighbor can access your connection is if they have your password.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Wifi networks can be hacked and passwords can be sniffed.  That is why vendors such as Netgear put user/device access control in their routers.   For instance, the Netgear WNDR4300 router (which I was using until I put in my Norton core) uses access control which allows you to block all new connections (wired and wireless) to the router.  You have to manually grant users and devices access.  See attached screenshot
