There's No Norton Safe Web ON Search Listings

HI, for some Reason Im not getting Norton safe web come up, on most web search listings, telling me if the site is safe or not

everything is on, that should be on , is there a tech problem or has there been any changes to the way safe web works.

Cheers Max.

Hi max424

What browser or browsers are you talking about and if you check in the Norton tool bar search do you get the safe web icons?

Hi max424

I just checked the below search engine in IE9 and no Norton safe web, but using the Norton search in the Norton tool bar there are safe search icons.  This does happen now and again and as Norton monitors this forum they should be aware of it.

Re: There's No Norton Safe Web ON Search Listings

Hi max424,

Which Norton Product are you using and what is it's version number?  From the main page of your product, select Support and the About for the version number.

Please run LiveUpdate (rebooting if requested) until LiveUpdate reposnds "no updates found" in order to insure you are current.

If the above doesn't help, do a search in Google and when you get the results, click on the Gear in the upper right hand corner, select Search Settings, then Never Show Instant Results and Save (bottom of page).  This is a work around - but may need to be repeated if you lose the Safe Web icons on Google again.

NIS 2013 v 20.4.0.40  Many thanks yank Guru, the work around has returned the safe web icons, so do we know if the problem is at norton's end  or to do with just google?

Re: There's No Norton Safe Web ON Search Listings

Hi max424,

I thought (old man speaking) that was fixed with an update so the workaround did not have to be used.  Did you infact do as I suggested in my last post??

Please run LiveUpdate (rebooting if requested) until LiveUpdate reposnds "no updates found" in order to insure you are current.

It is [possoble, even though you see version 20.4.0.40 that you have not received all the updates which woudl include the one I am thinking of.

Yes I had done as you suggested i had the most recent updates, would this specific update have asked for a restart?

max424, please go here:http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Product-Update-20-4-of-Norton-Internet-Security-and-Norton/td-p/973707

Under  #4 (What changes were made) - look at the 2nd entry in regards to safe Web.  At the end of the line the red numbers are actually links to the polsts that this change applies to.  Perhpas you canget some addtional info from those posts in regards to your situation.

It does state a reboot is required for XP and Vista.  However if you are already on 20.4.0.40, then the update should have been installed.  If on Win 7/8 a reboot will not hurt and I have seen reboots fix many situations - even when "not requried".
