Time Limit Glitch

Let me start this by saying I am considered a "child" to Norton and have no access to the main account. I know of several ways to by pass Norton, most of which I found on my own. BUT I have not done so in over a year. Anyway I have been having this issue where anytime I sign in I'm instantly greeted with the "You have run out of time" countdown/prompt. I obviously haven't since these instances happen the first time I access the PC for the day. I have talked with my parents and they have said they have done nothing to them. The only solution I have found is waiting till the next day, which only sometimes works. I'm curious what I could do (without knowingly disabling Norton) to fix this reoccurring problem. My parents can't even take a look at it because they are both busy. Also I'm running windows 10 if that helps with any known issues.

Re: Time Limit Glitch

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the post.  Can you please restart the PC to see if that helps?

Thanks

Re: Time Limit Glitch

Hi I appreciate the reply. I have restarted several times already and did it just now not more than a minute ago. Still the same issue. Waiting for 24 hours has done nothing either. I was able to talk with my parents who checked and confirmed that Norton thinks I have time on their end. I have unplugged my Ethernet cable several times and I don't have a WiFi adapter so completely disconnecting and reconnecting does nothing. Any ideas seeing how I have gone through and troubleshooted the usual suspects?

Re: Time Limit Glitch

I'm having the same issues. My twin boys PC's are both locking way before the time is up. with one computer, I tried to give the computer additional but it locks the PC before I can even adjust it.   And... I rebooted the computer's multiple of times and still the issue exists. I need the software to work as expected all the time. not some of the time.

Also.... The count down for the time doesn't work either. not a good investment. need a fix now. and rebooting isnt it!

Re: Time Limit Glitch

It seems to me that if your parents are too busy that they are avoiding the subject and don't want you "Playing" on your computer.  The odds are that they have either set the time limits on your device to 0 hours or they have set the curfew hours for the device to block all hours of the day.

Have them open the program in front of you and see for your self.  If this is not the case have them reinstall NF on the device in question and go from there.  If that does not fix the problem check to make sure that none of the built in security software built into Windows 10 is enabled.

This should save you some frustration.

Re: Time Limit Glitch

Hi AdrianHernandez,

You said "anytime I sign in I'm instantly greeted with the "You have run out of time" countdown/prompt.".  Are you logged off the PC in about 1 min after you log onto the PC?  Does it mean you are not able to use the PC at all?

As user "Warchol617" suggested, please check the time restrictions settings at House Rule -> Time to see how the time limitation is setup.  If you are not able to see that for some reason, please send me your parent's Norton Family account email address (if you know) by private message via the forum by clicking Inbox at upper right hand corner.

Thanks

Re: Time Limit Glitch

Hi Katie,

I am parent.  My child as a computer in Windows 10 ; he as a user account.  On the computer is running norton security 360 + norton family premier.  I installed norton family premier Thursday 8 January 2016 and set up correctly the time limit (see attached files).  I got a warning that my child has go above the time limit Friday but it is not true and you can see it in the second file activities I attached.

What is it wrong?  How can I solve this?

Second question, perhaps not in connection with the current topic but nevertheless:

Just after I installed Norton family via my administrator account on the computer of my son, all run fine via my admin account. But via the user account of my son, the button Start (logo windows) is blocked and has no effect when he left click on it; the right click runs fine.

Caused by Norton family?  The icon of Edge browser disappear of the task bar also?

Many thanks in advance.

If it is easy, I will be glad to talk directly with you by phone.

Re: Time Limit Glitch

Hi Pascal,

For question #1, if I understand correctly, you are saying you set the allowed hours to 6 hours and on the time activity page, it shows 6 hours spent, so no one has gone above the time limit on Friday.

The warning you get "8 janv. 2016 17:05" means the child was trying to stay or log onto the PC at 17:05 and blocked out.  It's not included in the 6 hours.

For question #2, I haven't heard reports from others about the issue.  To narrow down if it has anything to do with Norton Family, please uninstall NF to see if you still see the issue.  Also, please check out the link below for Windows 10.  It's not necessarily related to your questions, but just FYI...

If you have any questions, please let me know.
