Time limits

I have set the time limits on Norton Family which seemed to work and my son gets blocked when they are exceded etc, but he can then go back on his computer.

I checked and tried to re set the limits etc but the 'select an age group' tab is greyed out and so I cannot use it, and the time chart for the days of the week is not there for me to 'click and drag the hours for blocking'

Time supervision is on, as is enable time blocking and the weekdays and weekends boxes are ticked.

I have tried re-installing.

Hopefully it is something simple that I have not done but can somebody please help.

Re: Time limits

I cannot help answer your question, as I am a new user myself....but I am considering getting premiere so that the time limits work on the androids.......does it in fact work?  because right now we have the free family version and even with time limits set, the kids can seem to use their Kindles whenever.....which sort of kills the concept of the time control feature...LOL

Re: Time limits

Hi noonethere,

The program does block the child account when the time is up and they can’t disable the program unless they have the account email and password.  When the time is up or during a curfew period, the child would get an extra 60 seconds plus another 60 seconds while displaying a warning message with 60 seconds counting down.  After that,  the child is logged out of his/her account.  The child is allowed to log back to the PC for 60 seconds and receive another warning message with 60 seconds counting down to finish whatever he/she was doing .  Later, the behavior is repeated for the 3rd time,  so the child gets about extra 6 minutes, then he/she wouldn't be able to log back to the PC without the email address and password of the Norton Online Family account.

As for the issue " the 'select an age group' tab is grayed out and so I cannot use it", we are in process of working on a new update where the Time Supervision is redesigned.

Re: Time limits

Hi shadango

The program currently supports time monitoring for Windows PC, not yet for Android devices yet.  The feature for Android devices is being developed by the team.

Re: Time limits

I am seeing the same problem as "noonethere."  My son is able to log on and play video games to his heart's content after the expiry of time.  Additionally, I am not receiving email notifications that time limits have been reached until 12-16 hours the limit is reached.  Makes it pretty difficult to actively monitor, which is why I am paying for the premier service!  He has been able to get on outside of curfew limits, play when "blocked" and warned about it, and received "time reached" notifications early in the morning when he's only been on a few minutes, almost like it is tracking time from the day before.  I checked his clock on his computer and mine, both are the same.

Re: Time limits

Hi frosh90,

Our team has redesigned time supervision features in the program.  It will be available in a future release.  I’m sorry I don’t have an exact timeline for the features’ rollout yet.  We are working on these and will release them as soon as possible.

Thanks

Katie
