Time restriction enforcement is not working properly, still able to login

The time restriction is failing.  Despite setting up specific times when the computer is supposed to be blocked, my child is able to log in to the "blocked" computer for up to 2 minutes before it locks.  This can be done consecutively and repeatedly.  I have confirmed this failure by reproducing and repeating it myself.  The email notification arrives much later.

Re: Time restriction enforcement is not working properly, still able to login

Hi Elelsue,

The program does block the child account when the time is up and they can’t disable the program unless they have the account email and password.  When the time is up or during a curfew period, the child is not forced out right away and they are given a few extra minutes to finish up what they were doing, such as homework.

What I’ve heard is some children login again & again using the few seconds right before the program logs them out.  One thing you can try is to add a complicated password for the child’s Windows account, so when the child logs back onto the PC diligently each time, it would create more work for the child to do it every few seconds.

Thanks

First, the child has much longer than a few seconds before they are logged out. As I mentioned earlier, I have been able to replicate this flaw repeatedly. The truth is, as your anecdote demonstrates, that every child can continue to use their devices despite the time restriction feature. This application does not restrict access, it can only inconvenience and delay their access.

Re: Time restriction enforcement is not working properly, still able to login

Hi Elelsue,

A child has three chances to log back to the computer during restricted time periods up to about 2 minutes each time.  It's about extra 6 minutes. after these three times, they will be blocked.
