Toolbar changed to lower version after NIS update

A couple of weeks ago, after my Norton Toolbar updated to 2014.7.1.1,  I installed Firefox 29.    Yesterday after I received the latest NIS update to NIS 21.3.0.12, my Norton Toolbar has changed to v. 2014.7.0.46, which appears to be a lower version, just going by the numbers.    The toolbar still appears to be functioning.   My NVP version appears to be unchanged at 12.2.0.5-1.

Was this normal behavior, or some quirk, for the Toolbar to go from 2014.7.1.1 to 2014.7.0.46 yesterday?    I don't see any mention of 2014.7.0.46 in the forum.   Could something in the NIS update cause it to revert to a lower version?

Thanks for info.

Re: Toolbar changed to lower version after NIS update

Hi, Huylym. I have the same Toolbar version after the update to NIS in both Firefox and IE, so I assume this is intended whatever the reason.

The number may have changed for users updating to V 23.3.0.12 for some reason.

Maybe someone from Symantec will jump in, to let us know.

Hi Huylym,

I don't have Firefox, but I can tell you that on both Chrome v34.0.1847.137 m and IE11 I also have Norton Identity Protection 2014.7.0.46, but I cannot remember if before the latest NIS update to v21.3.0.12 I'd a different NIP version...

Mine as well. After new NIS v21.3.0.12, the FF toolbar reverted back to 2014.7.0.46 ????

Re: Toolbar changed to lower version after NIS update

Greetings,

The current Norton Toolbar version 2014.7.0.46 includes both Firefox 29 support and a new revision for NIS 21.3.0.12.

The Norton Toolbar version 2014.7.1.1 shipped ahead of NIS 21.3 so we could have day 1 support for Firefox 29.  The changes were put back into 2014.7.0.46.

Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
