I have Norton Internet Security installed in my computer for years. Live Update is run daily, Quick Scan every 2-3 days, and Full System Scan once or twice a month. How come my computer is still infected with Trojan.Gen.2 (knowing it only after a Full System Scan because Quick Scan didn't detect it) ??? Then the removal... as suggested, I run Norton Power Eraser. After that, Full System Scan again. But the 6 Trojans are still there. What should I do?

Re: Trojan.Gen.2

It looks like you may have picked up a PUP, a Possibly Unwanted Program. While they are annoying, they do not cause damage to your system. Some people actually want the 'Features' offered by these programs. They are usually downloaded alongside a legitimate download when you do not uncheck the option for the additional download.

Norton products concentrate on malware that can damage your system, that is why some PUPs are not detected.

I would suggest a second opinion scan using the FREE version of Malwarebytes. You can find it here http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

Be sure you do not accept the offer of the free trial of the Premium version.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Re: Trojan.Gen.2

If you still have that malware, it would be time to visit one of the Free Malware Removal sites. An expert would help you to clean  up your computer.

Please see this link for an up to date description of these sites plus the addition of a newly listed site formed by one of our successful malware remover users who unfortunately has passed away. That site is still being run by a good expert who happens to be one of the other Gurus.  The new site is listed first in this link.
