Trusted Device message and codes??

Why is it that when I mark this box  " Trust this device  Trusted computers and mobile devices do not require the second verification code when you sign in to your account. You can change this setting at any time after you sign into your Norton account."  I STILL get the code sent to my phone ?  I have marked this numerous times and still have to enter codes???

I take it you are asking about the 2 factor authentication for your Norton Account using the VIP Access app.

What device are you trying to trust and what device are you having the codes from?

I just tested and marked the Trust this device on my iPad after receiving the code on my phone. I then logged out of my account, then logged back in with no prompt for a code.

Are you allowing cookies for the Norton Account website?

Yes authentication, and marking on my laptop and my desktop computers and I get the code on my cell phone regardless if I've marked it trusted.  I've marked them to trust numerous times and still get asked for codes.

Re: Trusted Device message and codes??

I just tried on my laptop signing into my Norton Account. I entered the code and checked Trust this device. I logged out of my account and the logged back in and was not asked for a code.

This is on Win 10 64 bit.

What OS are you using on your computers?

Re: Trusted Device message and codes??

On one of those devices, log into your Norton Account. Then click on your email address at the top right and click on Account Details. Click on the Personal Information tab, and scroll down to 2FA section. See if it shows 'This device is trusted', or something like that.

If it does show trusted, click just below that to remove all devices from Trust. Then sign out of your account. Then go through the  process of signing in again and clicking on Trust just before entering the code and clicking Verify. Then log out and try logging back in again to see if that helps.

Re: Trusted Device message and codes??

What browser are you using to access your Norton Account? Try another browser to see if you still see the same results for 2FA showing Off. And then try to set up 2FA again.

Re: Trusted Device message and codes??

Hello Peterweb, I was able to get it to work on my main desktop computer although your directions were a little off compared to what was on my computer...... I had to

1. click on my Norton security icon

2. then click Help under my email address

3. then click the Blue "My Norton" under account information.

4. click the  "Personal information" tab

My Two-Factor Authentication was listed as OFF , I then logged out and back in and it showed ON, but just to be safe I removed all trusted devices which was only my desktop, I logged out and back in. Re-entered the sent code and checked the box trust this device.

I will try it on my laptop and see if it will now work also.  It's working so far at least on one PC. Thx for your help.

Re: Trusted Device message and codes??

So far it seems to have worked on my laptop also, we'll see what happens in a day or two if it sticks or after I've cleared my cache and been logged out.

Note: for each PC/Laptop it only shows its own individual status as far as "Trust this device" it does not show any other PC that is trusted.

That may be by design as some kind of security measure.

Let us know how things go after a few more days.
