two factor verification

Wow this sure does not work!  What junk.

I filled out the on-line info, it required two phone numbers.  Both rang for verification with a code..  Then I closed the browser window and went back to the Norton manage website.  After logging on, it prompted me for the code saying it was calling me.  NO CALL.   I clicked to switch to the other number.  NO CALL.  I had about 5 minutes between.  I then came to this forum page and finally after about 10 minutes the phone rings that was the primary number.   So, OK.  I closed everything and reopened the Norton manage website.  NO CALL.  Its been 15 minutes.   Note that my bank and broker websites both have my phone ringing within seconds.

HELP.

So now I can't get to the Norton website for my account.  WHAT DO I DO NOW?

Re: two factor verification

The email saying this was set-up had a link to turn this off.  So I turned it off and cleared out settings.  Now I can get to the website without this feature that does NOT WORK.

Re: two factor verification

Have you tried the Norton VIP app? Downloaded from the Google or Apple App Store.
This gives you a code for your Norton account & will automatically pop up asking you for verification.

You add/set it as default under your account to be able to use it.

Re: two factor verification

This is on my Windows laptop.  So app store app would not work as for mobile devices ios or android.

Re: two factor verification

Do you have a mobile device? If so, you can use that as the primary way to get your Code, using the app mentioned by Twilight Princess   You do not even need an internet connection for the VIP app to work.

Yes, I have a very tiny iPhone, so I think you are saying this app can get the code for use by my laptop entry? (my preferred working device).

Re: two factor verification

Correct. However you try to connect to your Norton Account, whether on your PC or a mobile device, when you are asked for the VIP code, you can get that code from the app on your iPhone. Just be sure you set that app as the default device in your Norton Account's 2 factor authentication.

Re: two factor verification

You are welcome. Just be sure to also keep the other phone numbers you have registered in case you lose your iPhone.
