Unable to download using zippyshare

Whenever i attempt to download from zippyshare.com i get 'Malicious download' appear. Before pressing the download icon i always check with Norton safe web which is a Firefox add-on. Every time it tells me there are no threats, yet i still get the Mailicious download message. Why is this happening.

Re: Unable to download using zippyshare

Have you recently downloaded new software from Zippyshare.com? If this is why you are reading this report, we suggest that you closely inspect all installed applications. If untrustworthy software is found, it must be erased completely.

Zippyshare.com will not automatically download malicious software on your computer if you enter it, but it is only a question of time when you will end up with malware if you keep downloading software from this website. As our researchers have observed, this file-sharing website not only contains various advertisements and can cause redirections to untrustworthy websites, but it might also contain fake buttons. If you click on any of them expecting that the download of reliable software will start, you will initiate the malware download. Theoretically, you might download anything from Zippyshare.com. If you click on a wrong button or a malicious advertisement, you might end up with adware, potentially unwanted programs, or even browser hijackers and Trojans. Not all malicious applications are equally bad. For example, a potentially unwanted application is far from a Trojan infection, but it does not mean that you can keep less dangerous application installed.

As mentioned, technically, Zippyshare.com is an ordinary file-sharing website that allows uploading files, but our piece of advice for you would be not to download any uploaded applications from it since it might contain buttons, links, and advertisements leading straight to malware.

Re: Unable to download using zippyshare

Thanks for reply. As suggested disabled Norton Safe Web. Tried to download from Zippy and was immediately attacked which Norton blocked. So i shall avoid all downloads which require zippyshare. Norton Safe Web now enabled.

Re: Unable to download using zippyshare

Safeweb notifies you before you try to download anything. Download Intelligence and Auto Protect protects your system from external attacks.

From the examples given by bjm_, it looks like the downloads from that site contain PUPs, or other malware. Personally, I would look to another source for whatever file you are trying to get.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Unable to download using zippyshare

Generally the best advise is to get any files you need directly from the owner/developer.
