Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

I feel like I am going round in circles as I cannot get any help or solve a problem I have in re-installing Norton after having to carry out a Windows Reinstall to factory settings due to  circumstances beyond my control.

I have tried phoning Norton which has been a waste of time as one is just left hanging on for ages.

I tried re-installing Norton security but a message stated that it is not compatible with my computer/system.  It was compatible yesterday morning and working perfectly.

I paid for the package which includes up to 5 devices yet I cannot use one.

I have had to download a temporary security program in order to keep my computer safe. I don't want any further problems,  the one I have at present is enough to contend with.

It looks like I will have to go elsewhere and pay for another package with a different company as the Norton website will not even let me look at my subscriptions, the system just keeps reverting back to Log in.

The Norton website is a nightmare as it does not get to the root of my problem.

What operating system and version are you using?

I am using Windows 7 which is what I was using before my computer crashed, thank you.

Re: Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

Did you get the latest service pack for Win 7? You need SP1 to be compatible.

Also, if you used a factory reinstall, ensure that you have removed any trial versions of security software that might have been included.

Sadly the update does not work, it looks like I will call it a day and move elsewhere  as the update is still showing as not compatible with my computer.

I don't seem to be able to get anywhere no matter what I try, I need to close the account now as it is of no use to me the way things are. Thank you once again.

Re: Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

Did you uninstall the temporary solution you say you installed in your post above?

Which update are you referring to?

Were you able to get Norton installed?

Where did you get the Norton installer? Did you already have it on your computer, or did you download from your Norton Account?

Re: Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

Make sure you have first run Windows Update and rebooted each time until there are no more updates available.  This includes ALL Service Packs and patches.

Re: Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

Yes, I have tried everything and still could not install  Norton

What puzzles me is that I installed  another temporary top rated security system to cover me until this problem is sorted and it worked perfectly with windows 7. This was then removed as I had hoped that my Norton  problem could have been solved. I have now paid a subscription for one year with  the new Security Company and it works perfectlly.

I have been a customer of Norton for a number of years but  am now trying to close my Norton account but cannot even do this as the system keeps reverting me back to log in, this is very frustrating and time consuming. My  current subscription runs out at the end of 2019.

I would like to thank you for your help which is much appreciated.

You did not answer about where you got the Norton installer. Was it already on your system, or did you get a fresh download?

Re: Unable to import Norton after Windows re-install

Norton was not in my system as I had taken the computer back to factory settings meaning that I had to do a complete re-install. I tried to download from Norton but could not do so. No compatible was the keywword

I am happy with the new security that I have which is up and running.

I have been with Norton for a few years and didn't want to have to look elsewhere for security but needs must.
