Unable to install NIS Standard (installed old Premium again), and...!?

Yesterday I followed the Standard key card instructions- Entered Norton.com/setup   in the search box, it then asked me to log into my account-

as soon as I logged into my old Premium account it downloaded & re-installed Premium (Drat!). Oh Well, I'll try Premium again without backup/ Norton Home page...   It then said I had a Key Code issue- That my key code was Trial (I have only used 2 of 10, and Premium is still installed on my seldom used/disconnected laptop- How do). It wouldn't accept me re-entering it again. I then uninstalled Premium (No Save anything) & Restart Now, then deleted the installation files icon, and rebooted again-

The last time I uninstalled Premium- In Safe Mode/no internet, from the  Start menu All Programs/uninstall Norton (run as Admin, thinking it would delete drivers... too). IE11 web page opened saying "No Internet connection"/ no Restart Now/ Manual Reboot-

I still see "Norton WSC" in Task Scheduler, and probably need to do a cleanup before I try to install Standard?- Safe Mode/Show Hidden/Search C; for Norton   everything.../ Shift/Delete, or... ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once I have cleaned up old Premium, how do I install Standard without Premium jumping in again?
You can try your option, or you can go with a much more consistent and reliable option which is Norton's Remove and Reinstall. Using that in safe mode should clear up any processes.
First a Standard version product key is only good for one device. So if you have 2 or more, you need a Deluxe of Premium key.
To install the Standard version download and run the installer from    www.norton.com/latestns   Then enter the new key you have purchased. Be sure you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.
Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.
RE: Remove and Reinstall- I don't want to Reinstall Premium (It didn't work well for me)- I only want to Remove it, and then install Standard later- Does it Give you the No Reinstall option? If so-
1. Do I first Download RR to a desktop Folder, then run it in Safe Mode, with or without Networking (I have a Router with a Firewall)?
2. Do I Run as Admin (elevated, to also Remove corrupted/Hidden... System files)?
Re: Unable to install NIS Standard (installed old Premium again), and...!?
There is an uninstall only option. See the instructions at    www.norton.com/nrt
1.  No need for Safe Mode.
2.  Do not use Run as Admin. Use an actual administrator account for best results.
Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.
Is .../latestns going to ask me to log into a user Account?- The last time I did this it auto-installed Premium? I used Gmail for Premium, But also have iffy Yahoo (sometimes can't click Verify links)?
It is not going to require login just to get the download. Once you install the product using that installer, you will log into your Norton Account and enter the new product key.
Re: Unable to install NIS Standard (installed old Premium again), and...!?
I tried to run NRnR (Downloaded from Norton site) in Safe Mode/Run as Admin/with Networking-
There was No Advanced Options, Only Remove & Reinstall (looks like Norton doesn't want you to leave, or...?)! It wouldn't allow me to Exit, and I had to Close it from the Taskbar.   Where did you download the Advanced Options version from?- Would you check if the size is still the same (what is it?, you can Cancel the download...)?
Update- I downloaded NRnR from the TrendMicro site, supposedly with Advanced Options- I'll give it a Try?
Thank you  Scott
Re: Unable to install NIS Standard (installed old Premium again), and...!?
Why would you download from the trend micro site? This is a Norton product and a Norton utility.
If you follow the directions from the link I gave above, it gives a link to the NRNR tool and instructions to follow. Do not use safe mode, and do not use Run as Administrator. You need to use an actual Windows administrator account.
Trend Micro? I would strongly suggest avoiding installations from 3rd party vendors. Downloaded from official Norton's website and version 4.4.0.36 has Advanced options and I can just simply remove it.
Did that and more, came up empty. I have not been a frequent visitor but I haven't had any problems when I did visit. I can't recommend every program they offer for download. Also I am excluding ad content because you shouldn't click on ads and also I don't see any because they are blocked.
Do you have anything more convincing?
Did Not turn out good!- I finally downloaded 4.4.0.36 from Norton to Desktop as instructed/reboot into Safe Mode/w networking-
Their were No Advavced Options, so I clicked Remove & Reinstall- It then said NIS Not installed, would you like to Remove it (thinking it would Delete All old files... Not)!- Instead of Deleting files it Hid them, along with all Program Files/Program Data!
I had to reboot into Safe Mode/Show Hidden, and Delete all Norton- Program Files/Program Data reappeared, and more Norton files appeared in P Data/delete (should have done this instead of R&R!). CCleaner found more Norton Registry leftovers, and NS started working OK.
FYI- The ESET Removal tool also Hid folders/files, and I should have known better! DUH!
That makes little or no sense. The removal tool doesn't hide files, it removes them. (c:\programdata is hidden by default, but not sub-folders)
