unauthorized access blocked

I REALLY NEED HELP ON THIS.

I AM PLAYING A TRUSTED ONLINE GAME AND JUST RECENTLY I AM RECEIVING AN ACTIVITY SECURITY HISTORY FROM NORTON. IT SAYS "MEDIUM SEVERITY", "UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS BLOCKED (ACCESS PROCESS DATA), AND STATUS - "BLOCKED". THE PROBLEM IS THE GAME I'M PLAYING WILL EVENTUALLY BE DISCONNECTED. YOU KNOW HOW PISSED YOU CAN BE IF YOU ARE IN A MIDDLE OF THE GAME AND GETS DISCONNECTED. DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? I AM REALLY MAD RIGHT NOW, SINCE I'M TRYING TO EXCLUDE THIS GAME FROM FIREWALL AND IT KEEPS DISCONNECTING MY GAME ACTIVITY. I HAVE BEEN PLAYING THIS GAME SINCE LAST YEAR AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES. NEED HELP ON THIS, ANYBODY? THANKS.

Re: unauthorized access blocked

Firstly, please turn off your caps lock.

Unauthorized Access Blocked should not affect your game.  Norton is blocking any program/s that try to access Norton's files.  Those programs, including your game, should continue to work without issue.

I suspect you have another cause for why you are being disconnected.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: unauthorized access blocked

Hi samurailanx :

I agree with Krusty13 that these Unauthorized Access Blocked messages do not mean that Norton is actually "blocking" your game and preventing it from running correctly.  See Jakelong91's thread Unauthorised Access Blocked? for more information on the routine logging of these messages in your security history by Norton Product Tamper Protection.

See Jimmy1204's thread I Need Help with a Game for hints on how to create scan exclusions and modify existing Smart Firewall program rules that might help you run games on your computer.  If Hammer_Bro's suggestion <here> to put Norton into Silent Mode solves your problem (right-click the Norton icon in your system tray and select Turn on Silent Mode to temporarily stop background Norton tasks like Automatic LiveUpdates, QuickScans, etc.), you might be able to configure Quiet Mode (Settings | Administrative Settings | Silent Mode Settings | Quiet Mode Detection of: | User-Specified Programs | Configure) so that executable(s) for your game automatically turn off background Norton tasks when your game is running.

If you create scan exclusions for your game executable(s) and/or folders I suspect the Unauthorized Access Blocked messages associated with those executable(s) will also disappear from your security history.
