Unexpected Norton VPN Billing, and I can't remove automatic renewal

I unexpectedly received an automatic billing for Norton Secure VPN. I didn't even know I had it (I have NordVPN if I want to use it). I went to my subscriptions and tried to slide the 'Automatic Rebilling' to off - All this did was to bring up an error message 'An unexpected error has occurred', and I'm still going to be re-billed.

I've always found Norton subscriptions and billing a total mess. Buying a new device can end up duplicated accounts with double billing from 'free' trials, and where are my subscriptions for Norton Mobile Security? They don't appear anywhere on the website.

And when you contact support, be sure to ask for a refund for the subscriptions you never ordered.

If you have installed Norton Security on a device, the Norton Mobile Security, NMS, will not show up as a separate subscription. The NMS activations are just recorded under the Norton Security subscription. The only way NMS would show up separately is if you had not used Norton Security on any PCs.

Re: Unexpected Norton VPN Billing, and I can't remove automatic renewal

The VPN I got comes from a a so called free trial, I did not know about it, didn't want it, and certainly didn't authorise it.

I can find no way to get rid of it. I should be able to cancel on line, not having to resort to phoning a call centre.

The funds were taken via Google Play. My only resort at the moment was to ask Google for a refund and for them to cancel my automatic renewal - but then I wonder if I'm going to be ripped off again next year.

You are correct about contacting Google if that is who charged you.

Do you have any other devices registered with a Google Account that use your email address? If so, could one of those devices have had the Norton VPN trial set up on it?

Result! I requested a refund from Google Pay via the link from the email informing of the transaction. I had a refund in minutes!
