Uninstall Norton Internet Security 2005 without supervisor password?

How do I uninstall Norton Internet Security 2005 without the supervisor password?

This is currently installed on a PC running XP. The license expired long ago. I do not wish to renew the license. Nor do I wish to install a newer version of Norton. I would simply like to remove the installed 2005 version. Again, I do NOT wish to upgrade, I simply want to uninstall it.

At present, uninstall does not work because it asks for a supervisor password I no longer have ('symantec' does not work).

Is there a workaround?

Try downloading and running the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool from   www.norton.com/nrt    Use the Advanced - Remove Only option.  See if that helps.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yes, that worked. I thought that was a reinstall/upgrade tool, I did not realise it was also a removal tool.

Thanks for your help, the problem is solved.
