An unknown service (port 51100) is starting on your Mac.

Which of the four firewall settings should I choose? For now, I have chosen "Deny all connections to this service". Each time I start up my Mac, the message re-appears.

That port number most cases is just a device near at your Mac with your Norton installed that is connected to your home network (Mac,iPad,iPhone,Android) as Norton has an ability to monitor your inbound and outbound nertwork activities. What is the Norton program you have ? Norton Internet Security or Norton Security.

I have Norton Security 6.4.

What I really want to know is which of the following I should choose:

1) Allow all connections to this service.

2) Allow local network connections.

3) Deny all connections to this service.

4) Don't change firewall settings.

Norton for Mac now is on version 7.0 .Try upgrading your Norton by reinstalling the program.
