"Unsupported File" problem

I have 8 files in my email in-box folder that an Internet Security scan reports as:-

JS.Downloader cannot be removed from an unsupported file  - 3 files report this

JS.Downloader.D cannot be removed from an unsupported file - 1 file reports this

Trojan.Gen.2 cannot be removed from an unsupported file - 1 file reports this

Trojan.Gen.NPE cannot be removed from an unsupported file - 1 file reports this

VBS.Downloader cannot be removed from an unsupported file - 2 files reports this

All of these files got on the system despite inbound email scanning having been switched on - which requires an explanation for a start.

Norton Power Eraser did not go anywhere near them - so they remained after running that.

The "Review" option seems to be useless.

Problems trying to resolve this have been countless, however, let's start off by asking this:-

What is an "unsupported file"? If I do a search on this site for "unsupported file" I just get "do you mean supported file?".

No I don't.

Re: "Unsupported File" problem

What email client are you using?  I would think that deleting the email messages, emptying the trash folder, and compacting folders should remove the items.
