USB data shows under properties but is empty when opened
When I put my usb into the laptop a message came up saying there may be a problem and offered to “Automatically fix file system errors or scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors” – this happens time to time on any of the USB’s I use – usually if I have been clumsy pulling the USB out too fast etc and I selected “automatically fix file system errors” - usually it comes back saying that all is well – this time it said that there had been a problem and files had been saved (or partitioned something like that) to a section named “Found”. Then when I opened to look at the file contents it was completely empty, yet when I right click for properties it is almost full (29GB) - which is how it was before the problem. I verified it also under Computer properties and the USB is there showing 29GB is used up on a 32GB. I tried to “copy” the flash drive onto my computer and it took ages and while it was doing it I could see the names of all the files I recognised being copied over. Then the same thing when I click on the folder on my laptop it is empty – but the properties gives says 29GB. This all happened at the same time as Norton saying there was an attack by a “Packed Dromedan!ink” – Norton says it has successfully removed it and I have run the power eraser and it found nothing and ran spybot too. But I don’t know how to get into the data on the USB. And when I scan the copied file that is "empty" Norton shows the files as it goes through them Please help! How do I access the information that is there but is showing as empty?
