Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

Installed Norton Core, and set Arris Modem in Bridge mode, all seemed well but in 24 hours I lose the internet connection and this didn't happen before bridge mode, after rebooting modem I get access, seems the IP doesn't refresh and the connection is lost, ready to ditch the core and go back to using the Arris as a modem/router unless I can get some help with the problem and solution

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

Hello BeeKay How do you have your network setup? Who is your internet provider? Do you have TV/VOIP phone services on your current ISP device using its DHCP? A little info would be helpful.

Cheers

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

I have TWC ( now Spectrum) and I have a separate modem for Fax. Nots sure about the VOIP question, but do have my Direct TV wirelessly on the network. I rest to use the ISP DNS instead of Nortons, but now I got about 12 hours before no internet connection. I can say two things happened, first the Firmware update a few days ago with the core and setting the Spectrum modem in Bridge mode, then started losing internet. Also, the light remains white on the core no matter the status, and the Modem has not lost its connection to the internet as rebooting solves it for a few hours

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

Thanks for the update. VOIP is phone services with your provider, mine is with FIOS. Therefore I MUST leave DHCP enabled on the Arris combo device they require that I use to keep TV and phone enabled. Wireless is disable on that device. Your issue happened to me when I first got the Core. To correct it had to perform no less than 3 infrequent factory resets. A pain in the rear for sure but it cured my issues.

On the Arris DG1670 Modem do you have wifi enabled still, and is DHCP enabled or enabled? Your setup if it is indeed bridged should have both these settings disabled so as to make the modem an AP or access point. Core plugs into the WAN port on the modem. Below is an example article for you to review.

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

I read that article, and have it set the way they show it, but, I cant log back into the modem for some reason, so if I do a factory reset will the modem find my internet account or do I have to involve TWC? Since you did three resets, can you guide me from there( will I have to involve TWC to get internet link back tot their  modem?)

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

Also, I must have disabled wifi on the modem as when I disconnected the core the wifi ( no internet connected) icon popped up. So as of now the core is reconnected to the arris just waiting to lose the ip address again....

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

BeeKay you can get into your ISP modem with connecting an Ethernet cable to one of the ports on it and to a computer or laptop the login from your browser. Looking at photos of your modem online it doesn't have a WAN port so the Core should connect to LAN port 1 then to the Core WAN with the blue globe icon. DHCP and wifi as said before need to be disabled on the modem. All other wired connections should go to one of the 3 Ethernet ports underneath the core.

Re: Using Norton Core with Arris DG1670 Modem

Just to rule out one possible issue, please check the power management setting for your wireless adapter in Windows Device Manager.  Go to Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, and open the Power Management tab.  If "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked, clear the check mark.

I had tried that direct connect before and it still wont bring up the logon page, I suppose I have to factory reset, I don't know if the modem will find my TWC account after that without calling them
