Re: Utorrent Help

That's exactly right. uTorrent contains a PUP installer. Download qBitorrent instead. A lot of software now a days comes with pre packed crap other than what you are looking for. Norton was warning you of this.

Re: Utorrent Help

I added my Utorrent to exclusions after detecting and allow it in Firewall rules. Now it works fine and Norton don't detect something there. OpenCandy is harmless, it just advertising module.

Re: Utorrent Help

Vitalik93 please do not tell anyone that Open Candy is harmless. Open Candy is a PUP. It can install toolbars are corrupt your browser. It can also call home and report info to others. Open Candy is adware. Norton is doing it's job and warning the user that  what they just downloaded may contain something that could harm their pc.

Re: Utorrent Help

" It can install toolbars are corrupt your browser. It can also call home and report info to others." - Utorrent never did it in my system after all years I use it, it just has built-in ads. Also there is just 6 engines in VT that detects this program as harmful. They would be much more if OpenCandy was really dangerous. Regarding your links - I saw it 100 times already, it doesn't mean that it could harm your computer anyway. Not all that Norton detects is dangerous (if you didn't know that).

Re: Utorrent Help

Advice coming from someone with so many pc issues and who illegally downloads movies onto their pc should clearly not be giving other users advice. And yes it can harm your pc. It can overtake your browser and redirect traffic to a proxy sever. Some PUPS are merely ads. Some are 3rd party software. Some can install adware into your browser and track you.

tomi547mc please do not follow Vitalik93 advice. His post was reported. Thanks

Re: Utorrent Help

Ha! I'm the only one in the Community who has an issues with PC?  You definitely should think with your head instead of believing that everything that written somewhere is true... I have a lot of PUPs using PC and that is just ads in most cases.

Re: Utorrent Help

If you have encountered a lot  of PUPS then maybe you need to start practicing "safe surfing habits". People in this community have issues with Norton. Hence the Norton community. You have several posts. At least 5 going on. Please DO NOT give false advice to our community. Thank you.

Re: Utorrent Help

I have so much posts because I like to explore scrupulously every product I use to find out every bug it has (even if it minor). Most of user just install it and use "as it is".

Re: Utorrent Help

You also have a pc which shows Norton using 38GB of disk space (Which you are the only one with this issue). But this is off topic. Again please refrain from telling our community improper info. Thanks.

Re: Utorrent Help

This issue with size is under Support consideration already. Don't worry so...We'll see is that only mine issue or not. You'd better keep quiet untill we hear the official answer instad of your guesses.

Re: Utorrent Help

Your size issue comes from you downloading an illegal movie file onto your pc. Again please stay on topic and do not give this community false advice that may potentially harm their pc. You also refuse to listen to any advice others have given you.

Not tired of repeating the same thing? Just unfounded spam and offtopic. Shut the hole in your had please...

Re: Utorrent Help

Please keep the conversation civil. This is place for discussion, not for name-calling. Also as a reminder, as @PatsSoxBruins has mentioned a few times, circumventing Norton's detections of software might lead to malware issues on your system. We do not recommend it. We also do not endorse any illegal activity.

Re: Utorrent Help

I just said that OpenCandy is safe by a fact, although some antiviruses could detect it as dangerous. Regarding my bugs - I wrote already that my system is clean from malware and advise him to wait some days untill Windows Control Panel detects that Norton take so much space (when he told that he tried to reproduce that). I just saw this changing in Norton size only after some days. He tested this in some minutes and now he is sure that it's only mine bug. Firstly do and then talk... Sorry for off top Tony.

Re: Utorrent Help

Vitalik93 please stop. Open Candy is NOT safe and I posted several links stating so. OpenCandy is a PUP. That stands for potentially unwanted program. Might as well tell people in this community that it is also safe to enter your personal info into any unsecure website. If you want to infect your system by my guest. But around here we care about this community and help each other out. That means advising people not to install software on their pc that could be harmful.
