After upgrade to Windows 10 I could not open vault to access logins etc. Instead Norton 360 gave a new empty vault. How can I access my information in the vault I used before upgrade?
I've just reinstalled 360 after installing Windows 10 because my vault wasn't accessible. It still isn't. I try to change my password and the process stalls, then I get an e-mail saying my password has changed. But not to the one I've just put in, so heaven knows what's in there. I've done this so many times, I've got no idea which password, if any on my ever growing list might work. I am seriously pissed off. It gets to the cryptogram which keeps coming up and which fails to register anything i type in the box. What on earth is going on?
Be sure you have run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
If you use Win 10, an issue with Windows 10 is the Fast Start feature. With this enabled, you may not actually get a full shutdown, which is needed by Norton, and other programs, every once in a while to fully update itself. See this information from TenForums on how to turn off this feature. http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10...
You can also get a full shutdown if you right click on the Start Button and choose Restart from the Shut Down or Sign Out link.
Thank you for your reply. I have disabled the fast start feature and run Live Update a number of times but still cannot access the previous vault. I have also discovered the new vault is not as secure as in previous editions of Norton 360.
Hi wuston063 and Methuselah,
Do happen to know which type of vault (local or online) you were using before Windows and Norton were upgraded?
Here is a link that tells you where your "old vault data" is located in Win 10.
There is additional discussion in that thread in regards to retrieving that info.
Thank you yank(GURU). Using the link you provided I was able to locate the old vault data and using IdentitySafe Import retrieve the data into the new vault.
There is a page in Norton Support at:
which has a video showing how to import/export vault data.
Thanks for marking the solution and providing the link to others who may not have been aware of it.
