Vault won't open

I've been using my pc today and NIS 2014 has been working fine - until now. However, when I try to open my online vault, I type in the password as usual but it just keeps coming back with "Vault Closed" all the time. What's going on all of a sudden? NIS seems to be working ok other than this (e.g. I can do liveupdates).

My pc runs Windows 7 Home premium and my browser is IE11.

Have you restarted your computer?

Try clicking on Support - Get Support to run  Autofix to check your Norton installation and fix what it finds.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yes, I tried restarting my pc 2 or 3 times, but to no avail.

However, this morning I switched on my pc and went to open the vault and it asked me to log in to my Norton account. After which, I was able to open the vault!

Complete mystery, but seems to be working now.

I have a similar issue when trying to access my Vault. I am being asked to log into my Norton account rather than the Vault  and when I enter my password I get the message

Server error

An error occurred while processing your request. Try again later. (-2147024891)

This has been happening for 2 days now

However, I can log into https://identitysafe.norton.com/ successfully.

FWIW, I just tried my online vault and got the, "try again later" message too.

Thankfully I still a reliable local vault.

I will notify Symantec.

I have 2 Win 8.1 PC's with NIS installed on both of them, and I get the same error on both of them. Also, if I log into the Vault form outside of NIS by going to the Norton Identity Safe website I can login, but there is still a problem. The Vault will open, but if I click on a website I get the following error:

The Requested Content Cannot be Loaded. Please Try Again later.

I do not have a Local Vault, so I have to go to the site I want and entering my Userid and password. Someone please help!

The Login to Identity Safe appears to have been fixed! Did nothing on my end, so it appears the problem was indeed on their  servers.

Have you restarted the computer?

What Norton Product are you using, and the version number? Click on Support/Help - About.

If your main Norton screen shows your email address or your name at the top right, click on that and click Sign Out. Restart your computer and try logging in again to your vault. If you have an online vault, you will have to log into your Norton Account first, then the vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

None of the above seems to explain why everything worked fine last week and as of today is still not working. the vault is definitely not behaving as it has done in the past - all that was required was a vault password. all seems very flaky.

I am having marked problems with Identity Safe logins.  The Norton ID Safe Dialog box takes up to a minute or more to load (with Loading displayed next to the 'gear' icon) and then when it does load (sometimes it hangs and I End Task) and after I am able to enter my e-mail address, I get a 'Red' warning:

"Your Norton Account is temporarily locked due to too many failed log-in attempts.  Verify that your password is correct and try again later."  

However, this morning was the first time in about 20 hours or more that I tried accessing my account by typing in a password to open my online vault.  I was finally able to open my vault after I clicked on the 'Vault is Closed' section of the Norton Toolbar in the Chrome Browser.  The dialog box then displays the *vault* password login box as typical when everything is working okay (instead of having to enter my e-mail address and then my account number during which I get the 'Red' warning, or my password just vanishes, or the process hangs, or your password is wrong--although it is not--et cetera....).

The issues are as varied as they are inconsistent and the problems others and I are having with Identity Safe does not instill confidence that Norton is protecting our sensitive passwords.  I never once had a major problem over many years using the *local* password vault.

One last note.  Trying to access my online vault while using my admin account seems to be much more problematic than when I use a non-admin account on the same computer and with using either Firefox or Chrome.  I am unsure if the browser is causing the problem although I have had problems with Firefox taking up to 40 seconds to load for the last week or so -- although that too is intermittent and varies between admin and non-admin accounts. Chrome appears to be less problematic.  I typically use Firefox as my default browser but changed my default to Chrome today. 

My rig specs are within my Signature.

Win 8.1 x 64_ i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz_32GB Ram_NSBU v. 22.11.2.7_Free MBAM/MBAE_FFox v.57.0 (64-bit)_Chrome _Fast Startup is OFF.

Thanks for reporting a server error. Please monitor it and see if it gets fixed today. This is the first time I have seen anyone reporting an error with the servers. Thanks.

This issue is still not resolved. The vault won't open from the toolbar. It asks me to log in to my account and then says

Server error

We're working to resolve an issue that prevents us from completing your request. Try again later.(-2147024891)

From your main Norton Screen, look for your name or email address at the top right. Click on that and then click sign out. Close Norton and restart your computer. If you use Win 8/8.1, An issue with Windows 8/8.1 is the Fast Start feature. With this enabled, you may not actually get a full shutdown, which is needed by Norton, and other programs, every once in a while to fully update itself. Then try logging into the vault again. Remember you will be asked for your Norton account email and password, and then you will be asked for your vault password.
