Verify website ownership via DNS entry

Hello,

We have a lot of domains (over 100) where we would like to claim ownership in Norton Safe Web in order to receive notification in case of a rating change.
Since it would be impossible for us to verify ownership via HTTP headers or via HTML file upload, as most of these domains are used for backend stuff, would it be possible to use a DNS record to verify them? What would be the process?

Thanks for your help!

We'll try to call attention.

Norton Safe Web analyzes and rates websites to see how they affect your device.

As a site owner or a site visitor, you can submit the website for the Norton Safe Web rating evaluation.

Please follow the steps below for site rating dispute:

  1. Go to https://safeweb.norton.com
  2. Enter the website you want us to evaluate in the search field and press Enter
  3. Click on "Click here to submit a dispute"
  4. Enter the required details in the form and click on Submit button

Dispute resolution could take up to 2 days and you will receive email notification:

Use this form to submit URL which you believe is incorrectly classified by Norton -
Safe Web URL submission portal - https://submit.norton.com/?type=URL

SafeWeb rating of the submitted website will be evaluated within the next 48 hours:

Website ownership verification is not needed for website rating review.

Website ownership verification primary goal is to allow the website owners to monitor their websites and get email notifications anytime their website changes NSW rating.

Once a website is verified, the owner may initiate the rating review from the options provided for the website owners. However, the rating evaluation request provides the same flow as for non-owners so it may be faster to submit the website in the NSW portal UI as anybody can.

Re: Verify website ownership via DNS entry

Hi bjm_

I was aware that claiming ownership of the domain was not needed to submit a dispute, we just need to be notified in case of a rating change in order to act as soon as possible (and not finding out possibly after multiple days)

If the DNS ownership verification method will get enabled (or if there's a manual way to verify them after the DNS entry) that would be perfect.

Thank you!

 @iis-admin
~ my understanding:
Norton does not have a mechanism to verify ownership of backend services.
Norton will not be able to use DNS record to verify the ownership.
