VIP Access, VSMT vs. SYMZ

I have Norton Security Standard and tried to set up two-factor authentication. The Norton website instructs me to enter the 8-digit credential ID that follows the letters VSMT. However, my VIP Access app shows SYMZ followed by the 8 digits. I tried to enter the credential ID digits in the first field, anyway, followed by the 6-digit security code from the app in the second field. Each time, I get the message, "There is an error with your Credential ID. Retry entry." My guess is that a new alpha prefix was needed due to volume of users, but the authentication process doesn't reflect the ability to change or choose another alpha prefix. Has anyone else encountered this, or do you have suggestions/solutions?

I have after resetting my iPad, I downloaded the VIP access app but it had a different number so wouldn't work, I signed into my Norton account, account settings, personal information & choose add new method, this will allow you to add the new token, make it default then you can delete the old one.

What device did you download VIP Access app on? Where did you download from?

Re: VIP Access, VSMT vs. SYMZ

Perhaps it's a limitation of my version (Security Standard), but under account settings, then personal information, I don't see "add new method." The only features there are: Email and Password, Personal Information (name, address), Email Preferences, and Two-Factor Authentication: OFF. Within account settings, I've also checked "Services" and "Preferences," but I did see a notice in a bar at the top that included, "We'll also be updating this page soon," so perhaps the feature to add a new method will be offered at some point.

Re: VIP Access, VSMT vs. SYMZ

VIP Access was downloaded to my Galaxy S5 from Google Play. I have Norton Security Standard on a desktop, and under Account Settings, then Personal Information, the last of 4 items is: Two-Factor Authentication: OFF.  Just below that is a link, "Set up Two-Factor Authentication." After seeing a brief description of the service, I clicked Get Started, entered my phone number (as requested), and clicked Send Message. The message on my smartphone took me to a link starting with https://login.norton.com/sso/v?c= followed by a generated alpha-numeric code (probably a tracking code). I clicked that, and it took me to Google Play to download and install VIP Access, updated January 5, 2017.

VIP Access has nothing to do with any individual product. It is associated with your Norton Account, where you  can have multiple products registered.

I would suggest uninstalling VIP Access app from your phone, restart the phone and try installing the VIP app from the Google Play store. Let us know if it now gives a VSMT code.
