VPN please show off function in badge

Alas there is no automatic start for the VPN at switch on yet. But could there at least be a symbol in the desktop navbar (in my case, on Mac) that shows I still have to switch it on? The same goes for the icon on my phone - could it not show a little red dot or something when switched off? That would at least act as a reminder.
