VPN Vs Captcha

Recently I've noticed sites like Yandex.com are becoming more aggressive in their use of Captcha's.  Now when you do a search it isn't one captcha only after the initial search it's now asking you for a captcha every time you click on the next page.  Are they trying to bypass your vpn to get to your actual ip address and does the vpn secure my anonymity from these captchas as the sheer volume of them now is crazy?
