VPN will not install

Hello,

My secure VPN refuses to install. On my main Norton 360 page it says "installation error". When I hit the "fix now" button, it gives me a 9011, 100 error. The link to the "support" website says I need to install it with a user that has admin rights. This is my personal computer and I am the only one who uses it, so I am using the admin account but it still refuses to even install. I fulfill all the operating system requirements. I am using Windows 8.1. VPN was working and installed lat week, but I had to reformat my hard drive, so when I reinstalled Norton 360 after that, the VPN refuses to install.

Thanks.

Re: VPN will not install

When you say Norton 360, are you referring to a product you have had for some time, or the newly released 360 product?

I think the new one. It just upgraded itself a week or 2 ago.

Re: VPN will not install

If you have the Norton interface that looks like the image in this post, it is the new version.

Yes, that is the one I have.

Re: VPN will not install

So you do have the newer 360 product that includes the VPN function. That product is still a beta product that users may not be aware of when they accept the offer from Norton to upgrade. See this product announcement.   As such, even the Gurus here have not had access to this new interface and can only guess at possible solutions.

Are you trying to add the VPN feature directly from the 360 interface?

Re: VPN will not install

Yes, when I open the Norton dashboard it says "installation error" and when I hit the "fix now" button it gives me a 9011, 100 error. Is there a way to install it manually?

Re: VPN will not install

There appears to be no way to install the VPN service manually with this new Norton 360 version. I would suggest trying a reinstall of your 360 product using the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool.   www.norton.com/nrnr  Be sure you run run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available.
