Was Norton down this week?

I notice that on three computers there is no activity after 4/2/2010.  Wondering if Norton was down.  Activity was fine before that.  Thinking perhaps kids cracked pc and gained admin rights.  I haven't gotten an email notification either.

There was system maintenance on 4/6/2010 at 4-6am EST, but outside of that we have been up the entire time.

Go on the system and check to see if the paw icon is still in the tray when you startup.

Re: Was Norton down this week?

The paw icon is still there in the tray.  It says the account is not monitored.  In OLF the child is listed but activity stops after 4/3/2010.

Norton on child's pc says Safety Minder unable to retrieve list of child accounts.  Rebooting may fix the problem.  Rebooting did not fix this.

Do I need to reinstall?

Re: Was Norton down this week?

Yes I would try and reinstall.

If the account says it is not monitored it appears that it somehow either was not set up (not likely since you said you already saw activity) or the configuration was corrupted.

Reinstalling should solve the issue.

Re: Was Norton down this week?

I reinstalled. However, at the Set up your OnlineFamily.Norton account it says that the email address is associated with my Norton Account.  When I put in the password for Norton nothing happens afer validating credentials.  It waits for password again.

Please take a look at this forum post, it has solutions to the problem you describe.

I tried the solution.  However, there is one user that shows on command but is not listed in windows users.  The prompt tells me what the syntax is instead of command completed successfully.

Re: Was Norton down this week?

When I tried to use the net user command, all but one user shows active.  The last one says:

The syntax of this command is

NET USER

[username [password : *] [options]] [/DOMAIN]

                   username <password : *> /ADD [options] [/DOMAIN]

                   username [/DELETE] [/DOMAIN]

                   username [/TIMES:<times : ALL>]

This user is different in that the name is three names with spaces:  Jump King 0082 (ex)

Re: Was Norton down this week?

Ah I understand, try and put double quotes around the username.

Basically the command line is thinking you are trying to put more than 1 name in, that is why it is showing that error.

So if it were my name it would be

net user "Matt Boucher"

Let us know how it goes.
