Web activity & alert notifications have ceased since day of new update for Norton family.

all web activity and alert notifications have stopped since the same day as the new update for Norton Family. Please let me know if this is a known issue or what I need to do to get it working again. Just an FYI...web blocking is still active.

2. The child's profile name

3. Device name 

4. The dates that you don't the Web activity.

I just posted this in response to another thread and hope it might help you.

Our kids use two laptops, both Win 7 and both with NF installed. One laptop stopped imposing time restrictions some weeks ago and therefore stopped giving alerts.  The other kept working fine.

Like you, I had no reports of web activity at all from the malfunctioning laptop but full reports from the working laptop.

Both laptops have identical software and OSes installed, including all updates.  Both are running the latest version of NF.

NF was still running on the malfunctioning laptop but right clicking on the icon in the system tray showed that:

- 'View Time Remaining' and 'Extend User Time' were shaded and not selectable

- 'View My House Rules' brought up a window called 'House Rules For [blank space]' instead of 'House Rules For [Child's name]'

- in that window, the item 'My time on the computer can be restricted' was missing (but it shows on the other working laptop)

After reading another thread here by croutonboy, I noticed that Windows was not syncing to time.windows.com.  

I did the following:

1. forced a sync to time.windows.com - had to do it twice before it worked (not sure if this is related to the NF problems but I mention it just in case)

2. logged in as an admin and uninstalled NF from the malfunctioning laptop

3. restarted, logged in as admin and reinstalled NF on that laptop

4. the reinstallation didn't automatically identify the kids' accounts as users on that laptop so I then removed that device from the device list

5. I closed my browser (Chrome, by the way) and right clicked the system tray icon (still logged on as admin) and clicked 'Edit Accounts'

6. The laptop then recognised each of the kids' separate login accounts and I confirmed them all by clicking 'Save'.

7. After logging in as each kid, I found that the time restrictions were still not working

8. On another PC, I signed into my online NF account using my browser.

9. After going to the 'House Rules' screen and 'Time' tab, then reset the time restrictions for each child (including by de-selecting and re-selecting the devices to which the time restrictions apply) and clicked 'Save'.

10. Because I had access to another PC for steps 8 and 9, I could see that *immediately* when I clicked 'Save' in step 9 above, the time restriction window appeared on the (previously) malfunctioning laptop (which was logged into each child's account as I repeated step 9 for each child).

After several checks and re-checks, the problem seems to be solved.

Hi Katie,

Here is the info you requested. The device is a Samsung Galaxy grand prime phone. Device name is Nic SM-G530T. I have found that the only possible way to get web activity of is to take that actual phone. Turn it off and back on then actually log into it in parent mode and then everything will show up. It will then actually update the web portal and I can then also see the web activity on other devices. I just did it for today about 20 min ago and it updated everything missing for the entire day. (this message was from last night)

Here it is the next morning, and as usual there is nothing in the web activity, as there should be since I used to the phone and went to a webpage. Why do I need to manually keep taking all of the steps above just to get all web activity to finally drop???

Thank you so very much for your informative advice! I only have NF installed on 2 phones and also do not use time restrictions, so I am not sure if it would be the same for me. I am thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling. Everything was working fine until about a week ago. Not sure why this is just happening all of a sudden?!

I noticed that my issues seemed to coincide with the anniversary of my account.  I wonder if that is related somehow?  Anyway, sorry I couldn't be more help.  Hope yours gets resolved soon!

In my case, I registered here as soon as installed the full version of NF and it wouldn't work. I can see my registration date with my forum name with each post in this thread :) also, I tried to fix my problem without the lovely KatieQ this time and I got lucky. She was very helpful for me last time, though (NYE 2014).

Hi chec and Mark,

Please check the below settings on the monitored Android device.  Please let us know if these help.

  1. Settings -> Data Usage -> Norton Family. Check if the “Restrict background data” is selected, if so unselect this option.
  2. Settings -> Battery -> Detail -> Norton Family, set the Norton family app is “Turned Off ” for Automatically optimizing mode.
