Website now dangerous wasn't before

Let me explain. I use Norton Security Deluxe, Win 10 & Chrome as default

I browsed this site approx a month ago redletterdays.co.uk from the UK

with nothing reported back as strange

Today I check again it reports it as a very dangerous site yet the Edge is O.K.

Any ideas  ?

Re: Website now dangerous wasn't before

I just had a similar problem with an e-mail that I have been receiving with no problem.  I subscribe to HonestReporting.com, which is a Web site which gives me news about Israel and the Middle East.  It is a reliable source of information.

Today, when I clicked on a link to one of the stories, I received a "Suspicious Link" warning.  The warning read, "Norton now warns you of suspicious links in your e-mail to protect you from malicious activity."  It then offered to enable "Isolation Mode," which is apparently a well-intended way to protect users from "unsafe hyperlinks" and "unknown and malicious websites."

Who, exactly, declared HonestReporting an "unknown and malicious website"?  With Israel and the conflict with the Palestinians in the news lately, I am wondering if someone is making an editorial decision as to what is an "unknown and malicious website."  It is possible that this was an innocent mistake, but I cannot let this go unreported.  It looks as if someone is making a decision about the content of my browsing that could very well be erroneous.

Again, I don't want to make any unfair accusations.  Please take this in the spirit in which it was intended, which is concern about labeling something as unsafe when it wasn't before.

Re: Website now dangerous wasn't before

The links were in the particular e-mail, called "IsraBite News."  I am not sure how to include this e-mail in this post, as the message would probably only appear if the link in the e-mail was clicked.

I cannot speak for the URL the original poster had problems with, but I wanted to let Norton know that this is a problem if they are flagging certain sites that are known not to be dangerous.

Okay, was curious about the URL of the "link".

Safe Web report for website and website content, may not agree.

Re: Website now dangerous wasn't before

When I attempt to click on the link in the e-mail, all the links light up in red and the "Suspicious Link" message comes on.

I think I have been able to save the link that I clicked on:

https :// honestreporting . cmail20 . com/t/j-l-mkukhlt-jdjiikurt-yh/

(I think the other links are similar.)

Please investigate and see if you have the same problem.

Re: Website now dangerous wasn't before

First, the Algemeiner article was the article I intended to read.  I have not had any problems reading Algemeiner articles up to this point.

As I said before, HonestReporting is a perfectly safe Web site; I am wondering why all of a sudden my attempts to read content from HonestReporting are suddenly being flagged.  The link is referring to e-mail content which has not previously been a problem.

I am wondering if "hamraomd" is actually trying to suppress my access to this content.  This sounds as if someone has flagged HonestReporting because he/she wants to make trouble.  It is possible that this is someone who opposes HonestReporting's content and wants to prevent access for his/her own reasons.  This sounds like certain sites preventing access because someone wants to try to suppress ideas he/she opposes.  Although I understand Norton's good intentions, I think their tools can be used for purposes they weren't intended for.

Incidentally, I just got the same "Suspicious Link" warning on a Capital Journal newsletter from The Wall Street Journal:

https://capitaljournal.cmail20.com/t/d-l-xmljky-jihltusv-c/

(Or is the problem with cmail20.com? [Whatever that is]  Notice that the flagged links both have "cmail20.com" in the URL.  Could that be a factor?)

Um, have you asked HonestReporting.  You may point to your Community message(s).
Maybe, current issue is honest mistake (from Safe Web or HonestReporting) regarding email links.
Maybe, current issue is related to bulk newsletter provider.
IDK

Re: Website now dangerous wasn't before

Since I can work around this (because I know these Web sites aren't dangerous), I will drop this for now.  But I think Norton's software is possibly too sensitive to "suspicious links," or someone is trying to censor content for other reasons.
