Um, does Copy to Clipboard show more...?

Um, do you run Fast Startup On or Off?

Internet Connectivity - Host File Cleanup :: Success is head scratch, for me.
Why did Norton clean your hosts file.

Lets hear from Community.   Or, maybe try

Re: weird error that reappears every boot

Hello

Why are you on version 22.15.1.8?

Current version is 22.16.4.15. Have you tried installing a more current NIS? NIS is kind of old. The newer product line is Norton Security.. I would think that with Windows 10 Pro that you would want to run a more current product.

Re: weird error that reappears every boot

well, the removal and reinstall with the norton tool went well and the popup above has ceased.

all functionality restored to the system tray icon as well as updates and scans.

thanks for the help.

the note that the version was out of date was something that i missed , to busy banging my head

against the wall to notice. :)

Re: weird error that reappears every boot

Hello

I'm glad I gave you the hint that you were running quite an old version of an old product. Do you have automatic Live Updates turned on in Norton? Usually, Norton would have updated your computer if you have a current up to date license. Glad you got your NIS running. Did you run Live Update after using the Remove and Reinstall Tool and then restart after you got all  updates installed to catch up?

Thanks.
