Are you speaking of a feature of Norton Utilities Premium? If so, looking at the feature in your product shows that it helps prevent disk fragmentation by looking for contiguous space on your drive before saving a file. This way the file is not fragmented when saved and saves on having to defrag your drive.

Hello rebecca52. IF you are referencing the Windows feature. Fast write is a Windows 10 feature that enables memory to be utilized in a way that speeds up the system. This article over on TenForums explains things in a way thats very digestible to the everyday user.
