what happened to export vault for backup as dat file??

OK the backup vault process as shown does not work for me. I get NO option to choose backup file format (dat file - usual way/txt) but  I get a large box popup with all my data in txt format with little to no data seperation. Are we supposed to copy and paste this into a txt file ?? What a mess.

The backup offered by the browser extensions does not really get you a file you can store. You need to use the old process that is in your Norton Security product. See this Norton KB article.  Scroll down to the 'Export your Norton Password Manager data from Norton' section.

does not work as noted in article - you never get an option to export data from manager whether you use web or my.norton.com - there is no "device security" tab in my.norton main window. it looks to me if you only use free pwd mgr (which i have been using for years) that many of the instructions seem not to apply or show steps not available in actuality unless you are using more of Norton products then just the pwd mgr. odd that "import" is still available but not "export". now essentially useless for backup purposes which makes the product useless.

I just tried on my laptop and it works as it is described in the section I pointed you to. 'Export your Norton Password Manager data from Norton' section.

You are using your Norton Security product on a PC to sign into your vault?

It seemed using the "old" norton icon on my pc desktop gave me the option you listed, but not my.norton.com or Firefox browser add-on.  Better damn not lose that icon !

Thx for info.

thanks again - i was planning to upgrade computer  new hardware + the win10 but I am afraid the "old" norton icon will not be there so I will stay with 8.1 till the dust gets too deep. will check it's properties and see where the actual file is.

You are welcome.

There have been a number of things that were lost when Norton Password Manager went to the individual browser extensions.
