When time runs out, NF crashes

I've noticed lately that when my son's time for the day has run out, instead of logging him out, Norton Family crashes. He drags the crash error message off the side of the Windows Desktop and continues on. I've also noticed that when this happens, https:// websites in the blocklist are no longer blocked, although http:// websites in the blocklist are.

The error is always similar to this one:

Faulting application nf.exe, version 12.11.2.6, faulting module ccl120u.dll, version 12.11.4.4, fault address 0x0006cb1e.

or

Faulting application nf.exe, version 12.11.2.6, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x58ce366f.

I believe the "fault address" is sometimes different, but the rest of the error message is the same.

Thanks

Re: When time runs out, NF crashes

Hi sladeus,

Can you please let us know what version of Norton Family you have on the PC.  Please click the Norton Family icon in the system tray and select “About Norton Family”.

To avoid and limit the possibility to tamper/disable the system, please give non-administrative rights (limited or restricted) to your child’s  user account and keep the password for your Norton Online Family account away from the child.

Thanks

Katie

Re: When time runs out, NF crashes

Norton Family version is 3.2.1.28. He does not know the Norton password and his Windows user account has always been limited/non-administrative.

The only "tampering" he has been doing is to not close the error window, which apparently is enough to disable the time restrictions. He has realized that dismissing the error message would make Norton Family restart automatically.

Thanks

I'd like to have a remote session with you.  If you are interested, can you please send me a private message and let me know which state or country you are located via the forum by clicking Inbox at upper right hand corner?

Thanks
