When VPN is on I have no internet access.
With my VPN off I have internet access. When I turn on my VPN I lose internet access. Why?

Is this what you are seeing?
If so, have you actually checked your internet connection? From my image what is shown is that the wifi connection from my router is being replaced by the VPN connection. This is normal. It is just the way Windows is reporting which network connection is the last link between your computer and the internet.

This has been occurring for many days now. I contacted Norton Tech Support and they said the issue (VPN/Windows) resided within Norton HQ. Unfortunately, Norton has not notified its subscribers of the issue and when they hope to resolve it. Recently I uninstalled the Norton package and reinstalled but to no avail in solving the problem. I was then told by Tech Support to disable Auto Protect and Firewall and then reboot. I did this and now I have my WiFi back but no Norton VPN protection. I was hesitant to try to turn on VPN again for fear of losing my WiFi and will have to go through the disabling procedure again.
Today I contacted Tech Support again and they said the issue was resolved in-house. Tech Support then assisted me in reconnecting so now I no longer lose my WIFI when turning on VPN.

Be sure you are not using your computer with Auto Protect and Firewall disabled. That reduces your Norton protection to almost nothing.
Are you using the VPN at home or at public hotspots? You do need one to help with privacy at the public hotspots. But if you have a properly secured router at home, you do not really need one. See this Norton blog on this. https://us.norton.com/blog/privacy/do-you-need-a-vpn-at-home
