Whitelisting an app

Recently I installed Norton 360 on my iPhone and it stopped my Dashcam from connecting my phone to the dashcam via VPN.
The Support person at the dashcam support said that I need to whitelist their app in order to connect.
He showed me how to turn off the VPN temporarily but he did stress that I need to re-enable it after I am done with the camera.
I don't this as I may forget. Can someone explain to me how to add this app to Norton's safe list, please?

Re: Whitelisting an app

Unfortunately, at this time, the iOS version of 360 VPN does not have a whitelist feature, or a split tunnel feature. I am hoping the split tunnel will be added because the Android and Windows version do have it already. iOS can be more difficult to program because of the built in security features for the OS.

Thank you for the reply. So is this something new because a friend of mine also has the same camera and he is getting the same issue, even though he has had Norton 360 installed for some time and it seemed to be fine before then blocked his camera recently?

Re: Whitelisting an app

Something that can be confusing with iOS version of 360 is that the actual VPN function and the Safe Web function will both show the VPN icon in the notification area at the top of the screen.

How are you connecting to the dashcam? Bluetooth, wifi? Is this a local connection to download data from the camera when you get home, or can you access the information remotely.

Re: Whitelisting an app

My phone uses wifi direct to communicate with the dashcam and it only uses the Local Network. This just looks like it has happened recently, hence why I was asking if Norton had changed something around the VPN.

Re: Whitelisting an app

Have you manually turned on the VPN feature? If not, it would probably not be on, unless it is detecting the connection to the dashcam as a compromised network. Check this by looking at the VPN section under Wi-Fi Security. Tap on VPN and see if it is on. If not, try my next suggestion.

As a test, try disabling the Safe Web feature in the Internet Security section of the 360 app. This feature has been known to cause strange connection issues. If the phone connects to the dashcam, please send logs to Norton to help diagnose your problem.

Start by opening iOS settings on your device and scroll down to the bottom where the apps are listed. Tap on the Norton  360 app and tap to Enable Debug Log.

Now use your device until it causes the issue you are having. Then open the 360 app and tap on the three bars at the top left, then tap Help. Tap on Send Error Report and fill in any information requested. In your submission, please include "forum 'your username' " in the Case ID section of the report. Also include a link to this thread.

If you do send logs, please let me know and I'll notify my contacts to look for them.
