Why cant Norton get this right????

As a technology professional I am loosing my faith in Norton.  The problems with Identify Safe are very very frustrating.  One week it works the next it does not.  Always some sort of problem with filling in, the tool bar etc.

As I have mentioned in the past....if you cant get this product stable, then for the love of God, why dont you at least re write the module stripping out all the stupid BS that makes it difficult to use and make it super streamlined so that at the VERY LEAST, when vault does not work and has hiccups, it is EASY AND FAST TO GO INTO THE VAULT and find a user id and password.

Right now it is REDICULOUSLY SLOW!!!  Just to open...all the STUPID fancy graphics and BS, then when you enter your site you want the user id and pass for...there is a SIGNIFICANT DELAY before it accepts the entry, then to SCROLL DOWN ALL THE OPTIONS, MORE DELAYS waiting for it to scroll a page at a time.  IN FACT I found a way to scroll it faster....If it is not on that page then IMMEDIATELY roll the mouse scroll button and you will get the next page immediately....if you do not scroll right away then you are stuck waiting for some STUPID delay...for what reason WHO THE HE** KNOWS!!!

I have no idea how norton does its testing, but this is REALLY REALLY SAD guys!  As a former developer you all should be ASHAMED with this product.

Now for my LATEST PROBLEMS....several weeks ago I began noticing problems with new website designs login pages. Yep more IDIOTS who cant keep things simple and have to MUCK UP everything by making login screens look "prettier".  So now I am having trouble on login screens such as CITI, CAPITAL ONE and this week, EBAY AND PAYPAL.  for the first two, I dont even get a user ID half the time and when it does fill it in, when I enter it is as if there is nothing in the fields, and I learned a trick to OVERTYPE the YELLOW norton area...over typing the user and password and then it works!!!

As for Ebay and Paypal I am NO LONGER getting my multiple login pull down menu.

I have the latest Chrome, and I have the latest extentions.  Usually in the past a reboot would resolve this....NO MORE!!!!  Now I have to fill in my own passwords.

VERY FREAKING TIRESOME GUYS!!!

Anyone have any magic crystals or potions that I can use with my Norton to make this dam& software work????

Go In to settings to change having to sign in every time you go to a site to stay logged in until your computer sleeps.  Some sites don't allow auto fill to work but it's still easier to copy the PW from the dropdown box and paste it in.  Sounds like to me you haven't taken the time to learn the best way to use the program for your situation.

Re: Why cant Norton get this right????

Please Jim, your not even in the game with a suggestion like that.  I probably know the product more than some of the developers, and even if it were possible to block fill ins, the copy and paste feature is far too slow and defeats the purpose of having this app.

As I suggested in my post, at the very least, the module you refer to as a backup to the fill ins not working, should be re-written to make it fast and easy in such cases that the fill in does not work.  The manner in which it functions now is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

I don't know what you do on your computer but mine is a workhorse and I have tons of logins, so I don't have time to be cutting and pasting.  Either the app works or don't market it.

I spoke to a manager last year at Norton, and they did fix a number of issues.  I wish that person would get in touch with me again. The concept is good for the product and Norton Security in general works very well, but this Vault application is the Achilles Heal
of Norton.

These issues are WIDESPREAD, i have this in 10 PCs in our office and I talk to many many others who I recommended this product to, and everyone has the same problems and find it very frustrating.

Hi rick9999,

It appears you talked (conversed via PM) with Matt Powers (user MJP)  the beginning of Oct 2014.

https://community.norton.com/en/comment/5969231#comment-5969231

I am not a tech, nor into software - just got some self-taught knowledge and experience with what goes on in the forums (since Dec 2009) - in regards to what results certain situations produce.  That said you can take my comments for whatever value they hold with you.  No offense if I am told I do not know what I'm talking about.

FWIW, I had a look at your images and it reminded me of video driver incompatibility - the way things would "jump" and were misaligned when opened (drop down options) to the double toolbar.  Of course, I am sure you have already thought of this - but once again find it hard to believe these images are typical of all of your systems, across various OS's.

Two thoughts - have you tried to use a different browser - IE or FF and see if anything changes?  Also there has been many changes to Chrome add-ons and how they are updated/handled.  BTW - I do not use Chrome, so probably should not talk about it.

With all the systems you have - is there any chance a Symantec Enterprise may be a better way to go than the residential Norton 360?

I will attempt to get Matt's attention and see if he can assist again.  @MJP

Hello rick

We just got an announcement this morning that the Chrome Toolbar was updated today. Since you are a tech person, I'm sure you are up to date with the new toolbar. Just in case you haven't noticed the Announcement, here it is. I'm sure you are aware of it already. Just trying to be helpful in a small way.

Thanks.

Re: Why cant Norton get this right????

Yank and Floplat, thanks for both your suggestions.  Yes I checked the versions and I am all up to date.

Yank...I had listed a whole host of issues, one of which is the "jumping" of the screen.  This is a well documented problem and it is across many video scenarios from built in video chips to cards.  We have several different configs.  Its not really a compatibility with the video but I believe with the extension.  The "jumping" happens because the MULTIPLE LOGIN TOOLBAR pops up BELOW the Norton toolbar when you have a site with multiple logins.  Once you choose your login, that toolbar stays there and then disappears a few seconds later and then the entire toolbar goes away and then just as you are about to make your selection it reappears and forces your screen down...so that if you were just about to click a button, the screen shifts suddenly and you end up clicking something else.  This happens on any screen where there are multiple logins.  It happens across a wide variety of platforms that I have.  Very very frustrating....it has come to the point where I anticipate the jump and click on the area of the screen that I know will soon be where I want the cursor!!!!

Question for NORTON.  WHY is the Multiple Login pull down handled by yet another TOOLBAR????  Why would you not handle this task on the MAIN NORTON TOOLBAR?  Make NO SENSE, if it were integrated, you would solve one big problem for users.

You mention 360...that was last year....360 is discontinued and it is now Norton Security, and yes the problems are identical.

And YES it does happen on IE...exactly the same problems.  We use both for different purposes.  I have 10 people and we all have similar problems.  If Norton is testing this in a real world environment there is no way they are not seeing these issues.  I talk to a wide variety of people who I recommended this to them, and they all experience these problems, some time more than others.  I can assure you that for me to take this much time typing this here, I consider this a big big issue.  I'm the head of a company and I dont have time to deal with this stuff, but it is such a BARRIER to productivity that I feel I have to try to do something for the sake of all my people.

If I get a chance I will video the events so everyone can see this first hand.

Again.....I strongly believe that Vault needs to be re written to be far more simple and less prone to the constant changing environments.  There is ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for all the graphics. fancy goodies etc.  We just need something easy to use and stable.  As mentioned.....all the above would be FAR MORE TOLERABLE if the vault password access was easy to get to and copy and paste I would be a lot happier.  But that is the final insult.  It is too slow, the search is necessarily  slow, and scrolling takes way too long.

Think CRAIGSLIST....SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE a click and you're there!

If a web site makes changes to their login pages, Norton needs to be informed, so they can make some changes to make ID Safe work correctly with those pages. While on the login page, click on Vault is Open on your Norton Toolbar, and beside Current site at the top, click on Options to the right. Then click on Report and issue with this site and follow the directions to report the site. Do this for all the sites you find have changed.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Why cant Norton get this right????

Pete to an extent you have a point, but for simple User ID / Password logins I really dont understand why this should be a problem.  If you can click on the login field then it should be able to populate that.  Lets take Paypal for example.  It no longer wants to populate the password field.  Can anyone explain this?

As for Citi.....I dont know why this requires me to type over top the filled in characters.

https://www.citi.com/credit-cards/creditcards/CitiHome.do

Same thing at Home Depot credit https://www.accountonline.com/cards/svc/LoginGet.do?NEXT_SCREEN=/CTPPay&...

Norton needs to do a far better job testing and keeping up on changes.  This is not my job.  I am sure they could find a group of volunteers with the offset getting free Norton products to test across a wide variety of logins.  All the major banks should be on that list at the very least.  I can understand if obscure ones are not, but all major logins where the average user population would go to should be tested.

Re: Why cant Norton get this right????

Hello rick

PayPal may be changing it's sign in since shortly, like in a few days, it will no longer be a part of eBay. Perhaps this might have something to do with that site not working correctly.

Re: Why cant Norton get this right????

Good point, will be interesting to see if they do better apart.  Statistically spin offs are good stock buys for the future.  Not sure the login would change because of that.  Not unless you were coming in from ebay.  But the sign in directly for Paypal looks identical.  Not sure what has changed so that I no longer get my multiple login pull down menu.
